Ziggy Creator Tom Wilson Dead at 80

Tom Wilson, the cartoonist who created the hapless Ziggy character for American Greetings, died on Friday at the age of 80 due to complications from pneumonia.

Wilson invented the round-headed cartoon character for a line of greeting cards some 40 years ago and he later wound up in a syndicated comic strip and cartoon show.

When Wilson retired back in the 1980s, he turned over character and comic strip to his son.

Thanks for all the laughs, Tom.
