Women prefer to date ugly men

    Posted over 4 years ago

Researchers at Newcastle University believe that ugly men exist as a way of repairing the gene pool. Women would rather date men with good genes, who can fight disease easily and not the classically handsome man.

According to Diane Felmee a sociologist - only 1/3 of women believe that a man’s looks are the first thing that attracted them to him. Most women preferred a sense of humor, money and men with successful careers.

Women prefer to date ugly men

Women prefer to date ugly men for the following reasons:

    • Ugly men try harder.
    • Ugly men care more.
    • Unattracive men know how to treat a woman like a princess.
    • Blokes(men) with bald heads drive women really crazy and make them laugh, too.
    • Looks alone aren’t enough to desire a man.
    • Men who look different are often intriguing with something to offer on the inside.
    • Once the bedroom lights go out, it’s down to sexual skill and personality.
    • Smooth-looking men are unattractive.
    • Good-looking men are just boring.
    • Good-looking guys are self-obsessed and not attractive.

Do you think that women prefer to date ugly men?

Or is this study incorrect in its findings?

    • I do appreciate a fine ass looking man, I also agree they become boring after a while. BUT IT'S NOT A REASON TO DATE A FLAT OUT UGLY NO-TEETH-LAZY EYED GUY

    • absatou, Thanks for your comments. Your last sentence is too funny. lmao
    • I think 2 possibilities 1)1st of all woman attract on man's look then communicate etc. 2)starts with communication, but she didn't like this man, but after nice communication she like this man - it comes to love

    • I agree with the study, good looking men are usually self obsessed and that's so unattractive! I wouldn't fall for that guy in the picture but I was never attrected to really beautiful men...

    • me10dy, The pic of the guy is a bit of humour ... an extreme case. Do think that handsome men have difficult time with dating?
    • some beautiful man are nice!!!! depends what you think a beautiful guy is! i had few pretty boyfriends and it was great! i think its more either about yourself esteem, that you think you don't deserve anyone better or it could be love in this case no one cares about the look

    • fantastic, Self-esteem is an important element in finding a mate. A person should always feel that they are worthy of the best and not settle for less because of a person's looks. Do you think that ugly men treat a women better?
    • surely not, i'm just giving thought why woman would choose an ugly one.... she will have then an illusion that nobody else would like him so she can own as much as she wants.....also there are some ladies who pick not only ugly man, but ugly female friend so she could feel herself more beautiful and sexy compare to ugly mate :)))) women are cruel! if she choose an ugly one she probably has a hidden motive. its much easier to fall in love with person who is pretty looking:)

    • Mel10dy, Fantastic, does have an excellent point about women having the illusion that nobody else would like the ugly man so she can own as much as she wants ... actually many great points ... having to do with a person's a self-esteem while dating.
    • i am so lucky i am not ugly. at least i have all my teeth.

    • illinois, pardon me, but Mickey doesnt have any teeth, but he is still cute.
    • I just love ugly men! I am just crazy about them, no, I mean it - not disgustingly ugly, but cute ugly, if you know what I mean.

    • nuacco, I am with you on this one. I love Georgous Men! Always will! This is why I decided to post this article, because in my opinion, to say you would date only ugly men is a bit shallow as we have concluded in the piece. I really do not believe that: Ugly men try harder. Ugly men care more. Unattracive men know how to treat a woman like a princess. Speaking from my personal experience as woman whom dates men only, I have been on both sides of the fence I have dated ugly men and extremely attractive men. In my opinion, the attractive men treated me extremely well. (Besides they are a great site to see first thing in the morning:) As for would I date an ugly man ... No Way! I am just being honest ... I would never want to mislead anyone on my personal preferences when it comes to dating. I have no self-esteem issues. I believe that when dating you should go for what you want and never settle for less ...
    • LOL about first thing in the morning... I don't know...can you call Adrien Brody ugly? Because if you do, I am a 100% ugly-men-dater
      Nuacco.smallover 4 years agoby nuacco
    • being with an ugly man doesn't mean that you settle for less! I know it sounds like bullshit but what's inside matters more to me. Yes, when you look at the magazines you don't see ugly men and if I'm on the street I only notice the good looking ones, but when it comes to relationships and dating I don't care at all about what he looks like! It has nothing to do with self-esteem, to me it's all mental!
      Mel0dy.smallover 4 years agoby mel0dy
    • nuacco, Oh I thought you meant you like attractive men. I dont know much about Adrien Brody. I saw his pic ... okay you are a 100% ugly-men-dater ... I wish you the best!
    • me10dy, Beauty is in the eye of the beholder ...You cant judge a book by it's cover ...
    • I have dated beautiful men and it was great but not so mentally challenging... beautiful people generally have the tendency to forget their mind since everything is easier for them from the first look. Of course I had many beautiful friends that were very smart and concentrated more in their intellectual part so I cannot generalize I guess...
      Mel0dy.smallover 4 years agoby mel0dy
    • by the way, am I the only one who noticed corporate men & women were always good looking?
      Absatou.smallover 4 years agoby absatou
    • Fantastic, You were not the only one, this is indeed a true fact. In my profession, I come into contact with men that are attractive, well-groomed and smell pleasant often - In my opinion, they are overwhelmingly desirable because they have education and social skills as well.
    • well not always :)
      Nuacco.smallover 4 years agoby nuacco
    • The reasons that women would prefer to date ugly men as mentioned above does have some truth to it, however these are still considered generalizations. It was not mentioned whether or not the women were ugly or not in the 'running' to begin with and naturaly her lack of facial graces may make her think or feel she would be more compatible in areas of beauty. Furthermore an ugly man could be of status and substance that would make him sociably and financially desireable, especially for a woman of status and 'at awe beauty'.
      Avatar_smallover 4 years agoby Ramagnum
    • Ramagnum, You have a execellent point about the status and substance that would make an ugly man more desireable ... I am thinking "Donald Trump".
    • You what? Truth is that no one can make any point in this discussion. Truth is that when it comes to relationships it's all about our weaknesses and compromise. Otherwise we're better off with ourself...
      Mel0dy.smallover 4 years agoby mel0dy
    • Me10dy, When it comes to a person's appearance ... What are our weaknesses? What is the compromise? Are human beings meant to be alone?
    • Trump? No way. Never in a million years would I want that man. UGH!
      Avatar_smallover 4 years agoby Trueblue
    • I love his personality, but would never ever date him! I'm attracted to cocky attitudes.
      Absatou.smallover 4 years agoby absatou
    • absatou, What do you mean by cocky attitudes? I need you to calrify, because when I hear the word "cock" or any derivatives pertaining to it ... makes me mind wonder. lol please explain
    • cocky: Thinking too highly of yourself. *Its ok to be cocky if you're hot, though.*
      Absatou.smallover 4 years agoby absatou
    • Trueblue, No Donald Trump for you ... I am with you. He is unattractive...but look at all the women that have married him. #1 Ivana Trump- She began modeling for Audrey Morris, the top modeling agency in Montreal at the time. #2 Marla Maples- She was an actress before her marriage and she played the character of Muffy in the movie Black and White. In 1983 she was runner-up Miss Georgia and a model #3 Melania - She was bent on establishing herself as a successful and unique model, confident she could woo designers and magazines with both her body and wit.
    • ugly men want to date beautiful women, when they know damn well that all they can afford is an ugly chick. I don't know what you call ugly, but to me a man/woman is ugly, because there's no attitude & no effort to enhance what's the best in oneself. It's not about having a particular nose/mouth/ eyes (I exclude lazy eyes!) any self-confident man & class is sexy. I think knowing what we really worth & having standards is self-confidence. NEVER SETTLE FOR LESS. I never excuse myself for refusing a date, lol. It's not a weakness,it's just assuming choices.
      Absatou.smallover 4 years agoby absatou
    • absatou, NEVER SETTLE FOR LESS are the key words here and I agree. When you are self-confident, you will only go after what you want ... There are people whom do settle for less , because they believe that they can’t have the desires of their heart. This has a lot to do with what they feel on the inside more than anything else does. Ex: I have heard men say that they wouldn’t date a particular woman, because of her social status, educational level or nice looks. Because they believe that, she would not want them, because THEY do not have the equivalent. I think I am getting into another subject, here ... ... so I will just reiterate what I wrote earlier, always go for what you desire, do not ever feel that you are not worthy of what you want. NEVER SETTLE FOR LESS
    • I am attracted to beautiful men but that simply isn't enough. I've dated models and men who are not as conventionally attractive, and I will say simply affirm that in my experience, the unconventional ones were ten thousand times more charming and were the only ones able to steal my heart. However, if a beautiful man had those characteristics, I woudn't mind- BUT designer people don't exist, and personality counts more.
      Avatar_smallover 4 years agoby LC
    • LC, I see your point ... and one more thing I almost forgot ... size does matter.lol
    • I agree with Bree that you should never settle for less. I never thought I'd date some of the people I dated, and they fell in love with me. All I'm saying is that people can define "less" differently. The one who finally stole my heart- he isn't conventionally good-looking or successful. I would do anything for him. To me, he is the ultimate prize, even though most people wouldn't judge him as such.
      Avatar_smallover 4 years agoby LC
    • LC, I'm just saying - if he stole my heart- he wasnt conventionally good-looking or successful. I would venture to think ... this to be an issue with size.
    • lol! i surely stand a chance then!

    • Women prefer to date ugly men. Title of a nice piece of female propoganda muttered elsewhere on the Internet, designed solely to suggest to it's readers that women in Western society still have compassion and acceptance for unattractive men. Nothing could be further from the truth. As a psychologist, I specialize in the awareness and continued study of Male Loneliness Syndrome (MLS). MLS is a severe depressive disorder that affects men, cause by serial rejection of women. Every test and first person account on file indicates that women predominately condemn unattractive men in any social situation. It is only perhaps through an unattractive male having great wealth, status, and power that he may break from cycle of being rejected from females with slightly below average-to-beautiful looks. • Is it right for a women to flat out reject or judge/profile a good-looking guy soley on his looks? To me that's very shallow and is as bad as racism. A person CAN'T change their looks, so why hold them personally accountable? Rejection hurts good-looking people the same! Women wonder why good-looking guys don't seem to try as hard...? Maybe it's because they constantly get rejected because of something they CAN'T change and get disouraged....?!

    • DrMorlenheim isn't a psychologist. MLS is not an excisting disorder, according to the DSM-IV (Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders). Look here: http://www.answerbag.com/profile/1172076/answers/ and come to your own conclusion about what 'the Dr' is trying to do.

    • I would have to say that most of the list of ways ugly men treat women better than good looking men would also apply to good looking men who think they are less attractive than they really are. And I am ignoring for the sake of this discussion that the whole thing seems to be too generalized. Also, "ugly" seems to be a rather generic, non-quantitative measure. A woman that I find attractive another guy might think is plain or even ugly.
