What no one told you about YouSayToo - Top 10 list
Update:I was recently contacted by the YouSayToo team and they nicely explained in detail about some of the open ended points and some which were misleading. I have updated the post accordingly...
In the previous post, we discussed a couple of points about YouSayToo which are generally overlooked. I'll brief the points previously discussed in the initial points in list below and then continue with the top 10 list:
- 50% adsense revenue share
only if your rating is 2+(for everyone) - Duplicate content rated low by Google, initial backlink "forcibly" put on your blog to YouSayToo before associating your account might make YouSayToo articles rank higher in Google's eyes. YouSayToo backlinks we get back to our blog are "no follow" (Update:The backlink is needed to prove ownership of the blog to prevent plagiarism.)
- YouSayToo allows you to donate your earnings to a charitable organization but that is a clause in that! And if you want to make sure that you are doing your bit of charity, you should know this else it will just give you a false feeling of being charitable. YouSayToo terms say that it can use the accumulated donations to its own discretion if the total amount of donations doesn't exceed $500 to a charity organization on February 28th every year. (Update: The full version is: 7.18. YouSayToo.com reserves the right to stop donating to any charity organization, if the total amount of donations to a concrete charity organization doesn't exceed $500 on the last donation transfer day (February 28). In this case YouSayToo.com has rights to dispose with accumulated donations by its own discretion.)
- When you add your blog to YouSayToo, your old articles aren't
imported to YouSayToo. Only the new entries will be imported once you
have associated your blog RSS with YouSayToo. Moreover, you need to have
minimum 250 words for the last 3 posts,
so if your blog is just a video with a little description, that won't help.(Update:YST system detects images and videos in posts if the feed setting is set to Full. The 256 characters requirement applies only to text-only posts.) - If you don't have the RSS feed for a particular article of yours, you can still submit that article but at the bottom include "From: <source url>"
- If your article includes a lot of links to your own blog/website which becomes spammy or is just written for the sake of driving traffic to other website giving just a brief and appending with "Read more", such articles or the complete blogs as well will be deleted from YouSayToo. (Update:Excessive linking is not allowed regardless of the website(s) the links go to.)
- The website link that you provide in the profile page won't be indexed and you won't get any back link and corresponding search engine benefits because of the link on profile page.
- You need to be the author of the articles you submit or the blogs you RSS feed in YouSayToo. You can't just use someone else's RSS feed and earn from it or use some plagiarized articles to earn from!
- When you refer a person, you get 15% adsense impression share on his posts from YouSayToo's ad share while the person you have referred retains his 50% share. (Update: The share is from his/her AdSense impressions) So now, for this level 1, the equation is: Referred person(50%) + YouSayToo(35%) + You(15%). Moreover, for every person referred by that person, you get more 10% share from YouSayToo's account. So the equation for level 2 becomes:Referred person(50%) + Your referred person(15%)+ YouSayToo(25%) + You(10%)
