Scientists in the USA claim that they have discovered a new way of obtaining stem cells, which does not require using embryo tissue for that purpose.After seven years of research North Carolina scientists have developed a technology for obtaining stem cells from amniotic waters, without damaging the embryo. Before this, most stem cells suitable for research were obtained from human embryos. Stem cell culture is developing fast and gives big hopes for curing serious diseases, such as diabetes, Parkinson and Alzheimer's diseases. The specialists are able to create muscle, nerve and kindey tissues from the stem cells. Stem cells culture also gives many ethical problems, because embryos, which are used for obtaining embryonic stem cells, are destroyed afterwards. Now scientists believe that stem cells from amniotic waters are similar to embryonic stem cells, although there are fewer comparatively.
