Wikia Search to become Google and Yahoo competitor

Wikipedia founder Jimmy Wales claims that the search engine they are developing is to become a serious competitor to Google and Yahoo and will take around 5% of the search market.

Unlike Wikipedia, Wiki Search is going to be a commercil project.

Wales described the two Internet firms as "black boxes" that won't disclose how they rank search results, Wales said collaborative search technology could transform the power structure of the Internet.

The new Wikia Search page rank will be composed by users, not algorythms. First three results will be given from Wikipedia and the following results will be other websites with links from encyclopedia.

Wikia Search, thus, will be protected from spammers unlike Google and Yahoo.

Putin met Pope

Russia president Vladimir Putin has met Pope Benedict XVI for the first time during Putin's visit to Rome.The both of them discussed relationship between the Roman Catholic and Russian Orthodox Churches. The talks were held in a very friendly atmosphere. Mr Putin was also expected to discuss energy and security with Italian Prime Minister Romano Prodi in meetings on Tuesday night and Wednesday.

Asus might stop producing notebooks

Asus might pass its notebook production to branch company Asusalpha Computer.The main reason for that is Asus partners pressure. Asus carries out orders for such big companies as Dell, Toshiba and Apple. Nevertheless, Asus own brand recognition has grown, which resultated in competition with company's clients.Sony and Apple have already turned Asus down, passing orders to Foxconn Electronics and Quanta Computer. Dell has even demanded that Asus gives notebook production to the branch company by 2008.

In my opinion that certainly is going to happen, with time.
I mean, think of the revenue Google Inc. had last year from Google ads alone. Would be unthoughtful not using such opportunity and finally set some competition on the market.
