Pound ratio to dollar almost reached two dollars for one pound (1,99 $/1 £). Analysts claim that the raise of percent rates in Britain in January, which surprised the market, sequenced investor attention to Brittish currency.
Pound strengthening is usually favourable for consumers but not for exporters.
Apple Inc. has delayed until March the launch of its gadget for streaming video and other content from computers to TVs, but the company would not explain why. The company had said in January the $299 Apple TV set-top box would be available this month. Shots have been fired at a police car in the early hours of this morning on one of Britain's busiest motorways, police said. Two shots were fired at the police patrol car as officers made a routine stop-check on a vehicle at around 4.10am on the M5 motorway in Gloucestershire. A spokeswoman for Gloucestershire police said a patrol car had stopped to make a routine check on a blue L-registration BMW 3 series that was parked in a lay-by just off junction 12 of the motorway near Gloucester. But, as police pulled up behind the BMW, two shots were fired from the vehicle.
