Cave People

An entire village of Maew (Miao) people in China is living in a cave which is about 700 feet deep. They have houses, a school where children study during day time. Their building don't have roofs because they don't need them. It's amazing how people are living there.

Would you buy immortality?

Do you want to live forever? i guess almost everyone would say "No way!".. mostly we have no desire to outlive our loved ones and to endure the aches and pains of old age on our own. But what if you could die, then come back hundreds of years later with a new body? What if you weren't alone? What if your children, your spouse, even the family pet could come back with you? Maybe then u ll consider. This scenario one day can become a reality. It's called cryonics. In short, it's the deep-freezing of human bodies immediately after death for preservation and possible revival in the future.

cell phone disco

Cell Phone Disco is an experimental installation, made of flashing cells, that allows gallery visitors to experience the invisible body of the mobile phone. The cells consist of one or more LEDs, battery and a sensor that detects electromagnetic radiation transmitted by mobile phones. Cell phone disco has two parts:Mobile Aura: Flashing cells with sensors of higher sensitivity detect EM radiation of active mobile phone in a range of approximately a meter. A sort of aura appears then around the phone, revealing

What I find most interesting is that some of the buildings still have the peaked framework - as if they were built with the knowledge that duisings have pointy tops, even if they don't actually need a roof

I guess they don't build roofs so it would be brighter in the house. I think the house must have a room with a roof, so stuff from the ceiling won't fall on them

I believe what the above comment meant by "state" was not the United States, but from the government.

In China.

They got the house kit from the Chinese Government. They did not finish the roof seeing as how they did not need to. since it was a kit-home, that was built into the frame.

Yeah, dude, "from the state" means "from the government." You can try to act superior to someone based on their nationality by screaming inane claims at them having things "handed to them" etc, etc, but at least understand the language spoken.

Sounds like you don't know what you're talking about. Please study history and English. Thanks.

If you look at it from an architectural view point, the a-frame peaks don't just support the roof but the wholr house structure. The triangle is a stronger shape then a square, if you put four walls together to form a square or rectangle they can skew to form a diamond (or just generally collapse), the support of triangular a-frame stops this from happening.

I think the roof trusses are there to stabilize the walls from caving in or out. Or this is a hoax

It's interesting. The Reuters articles explains the cave was naturally formed, but from the pictures, the indentations in the cave ceiling almost make it look people have been carving out chunks to enlarge the cavern. Just different from the cave ceilings I've seen, but then again, I haven't seen many.

you're right, it's too unhealthy to study with so little light. can't imagine reading anything in those conditions. However maybe they are used to it.

Im sure at certain times of the year water could seep thought the roof of the cave or perhaps the consolidation of condensation on the cave roof would create a cause for the need of a house roof. They obviously need the light more than the protection from the elements when these photos were taken. I would love to go to china!! from what i keep seeing its a very special place on this planet

I think its amazing that even could build something like that. Of course, not all of China is like that, so anyone who says they wouldn't want to live in any Chinese city... I have a penpal from China, of course he doesn't like somethings but he believes that they have change a lot in the past ten years
