Top Gear Hosts Break Anti-Smoking Law
Top Gear hosts Jeremy Clarkson and James May openly lit up Porsche branded pipes and puffed during the news section of the program.
The BBC received a number of complaints from viewers. Initially claimed they had not broken the law because the presenters had smoked a herbal honey mixture and not tobacco.
Clarkson and May lit their pipes but Hammond didn't because he said he was not a fan of the pipe and recently quit smoking.
Clarkson turned his pipe around and put it into his mouth joking "this is the 911 version - the hot bit goes at the back". and hot some tobacco (or herbal honey mixture) on his tongue.
Amanda Sandford, from anti-smoking campaign group ASH, said: "It was a blatant breach of the law and the BBC should offer an immediate apology that acknowledges what they have done.
"I understand it was meant to be a light hearted part of the programme but it does not excuse the fact that they were flouting the law.
Personally I don't have anything against them, I love this show no matter what laws they break. In this episode they test drove the new audi R8, i recommend everyone to see it.
