I’m sorry that
there is still no
gardening video. The
boyfriend went to
bed right after
dinner last night.
Hopefully he’s
feeling a little
better today and
will be able to put
up the video after
work.
The sun is actually
coming out today. It
looks like
we’ll have 2
days of good weather
and then a weekend
of thunderstorms and
rain. Sigh.
It’s the
middle of the week,
so it’s
freebies time. As a
bonus I’m
including some
coupons and great
free MP3 music for
you to try this
week.
Let me know of any
other freebies or
coupons I’ve
missed.

I know this weeks
gardening video
isn’t up
yet–I’m
sorry for that. The
boyfriend has gotten
sick (and I think
I’m coming
down with it too
now), so when he got
home from work last
night, it was a
“lay on the
couch and watch
TV” kind of
night. Tonight
I’ll remind
him about the video,
and hopefully
we’ll get it
up.
Since I’m
starting to feel
under the weather
(and the weather
outside is pretty
dreary too), I just
have one short post
for you today. This
is a nice deal.
I’m always
boasting about how a
good way to save
money is look for

This update will be
pretty short this
week. We had a busy
weekend, and we on a
film set from 5-11PM
last night, so we
didn’t have
time to upload the
video to Youtube
yet. I don’t
know how to use the
boyfriend’s
new camera, so
hopefully
he’ll put it
up tonight. We have
filmed it though, it
just needs to be
converted and
uploaded.
Also, my digital
camera is on
it’s way back
to Samsung for
repair so I have to
use my old digital
camera for pictures.
(The LCD screen on
it is broken, so I
can’t see the
pictures when I take
them. I apologize
for any crappy

It’s Friday
and the weekend is
almost here. Have
any fun plans for
this weekend? No?
Well, you’re
in the right place,
because I’m
about to suggest a
ton of fun and
thrifty things for
you to do this
weekend.
One of the things
the boyfriend and I
enjoy doing the most
is just going out
and exploring the
city of Chicago. We
liked going to
places we’ve
never been before
and finding awesome
places in the nooks
and crannies of the
city. The best part
is, we have a lot of
fun in the process.
What’s even
better? Exploring is
really cheap–a
lot of times
it’s even

It’s kind of
gloomy out today. It
rained this morning
and is supposed to
rain latter tonight.
The nice thing is
the weather is in
the 70s and should
stay that way, so I
will save money not
running the AC for
the rest of the
week.
What is it about
rain that makes me
so lazy? It’s
a total mood dropper
too. I just want to
curl up in bed and
sleep, but
that’s not
very productive.
Let’s bring up
the mood with some
freebies and samples
and then jam out to
some free music.

This has been a
somewhat eventful
week concerning our
container
vegetables. We
finally finished
transplanting–
all of our pots are
full and as long as
they all survive the
transplant, there
will be no more
transplanting this
season! We still
have some seedlings
left, so if
something dies off,
we could potentially
transplant something
else into the pot.
Fingers crossed that
all the plants
lived.
Another thing we did
this week was thin
out the extra
seedlings, just so
each pot has the
correct amount of
plants for
it’s size. The
pink window box is
another story,
though we thinned
out the

Happy Memorial Day
everyone! I hope
everyone (no matter
what country
you’re from)
takes a moment today
to think of the
soldiers who have
died fighting for
your rights and
freedoms.
This is just a
quick, fun post for
today, since I hope
most people are out
and about enjoying
their 3-day weekend
(plus I have a ton
of things to do
today). The weekly
vegetable gardening
post will be posted
tomorrow. The video
is already up on our
youtube channel if
you can’t
wait.
To celebrate the
warm weather and the
official beginning
of Beach season, we
had a beach day
yesterday. Since we

The weekend is
almost here, and
it’s one of
those awesome 3-day
ones. I have a ton
of fun things
planned, and I hope
all of my readers
enjoy this great
weekend as well. To
kick it off right,
let’s enjoy
some freebies, shall
we?
Now before I get
into the list, I
just want to note
that this site had
server problems the
last 2 days, so
periodically (and it
seemed for the
majority of the day)
it just would not
load. I was
endlessly frustrated
by this and I
apologize to anyone
who had trouble
access the site. We
hope to move to a
better server on
Monday to end these
issues permanently.

As I’ve
mentioned before, I
live in Chicago,
which currently has
the honor of having
the highest sales
tax rate in the
United States, at
10.25%.
Let me tell you what
a pain that is.
While the rate is
only 2% for things
like food, drugs,
and medicine, buying
other items like
toothpaste,
clothing, or even
pet food gets us
that fabulous 10.25%
tax rate.
Most of the time,
you just have to eat
it and move on, but
when it comes to big
ticket items, like
expensive
electronics, the tax
can be significant.
Luckily, there is a
loophole to get
around that.
Many online
purchases are not

Summer hit yesterday
with full force (it
was 89F out when I
took these pictures)
and the plants are
officially living
outdoors full time.
Last week I was
pretty excited about
that possibility
since I was sick of
lugging the pots in
and out each day.
Hopefully
they’ll
survive the heat
(it’s about 20
degrees warmer than
it has been for the
past few weeks). I
make sure to check
the plants regularly
and water them when
the soil is dry. I
also plan to start
fertilizing them
this week.
Week 6 of our
container gardening
adventure has been
exciting. Our beans
started flowering on
