NATO summit

This week was full of political events. Of course the biggest news was NATO summit in Bucharest. During the summit Bush struggled to invite Ukraine and Georgia to join the alliance thankfully some European leaders has enough balls and brains to say "no". Also Poland and the Czech Republic agreed to set up interceptors missiles and a radar dish on their territory - these countries are paid enough to keep their balls small and brains inactive. As you know both of these decisions are fiercely opposed by Russia. And I'm beginning to think they are doing this on purpose. It seems Bush wants

US invasion a success

The invasion of Iraq is a success said president George Bush. In his speech he said "The level of violence is significantly down. Civilian deaths are down. Sectarian killings are down. Attacks on American forces are down." Because of our invasion the world is a better and the US is a safer place now. Since the invasion 4,000 US and allied soldiers and tens of thousands of Iraqis have been killed. The only thing that invasion has done is destabilize the region, made the US muslim enemy #1 and made terrorist organizations more popular. But the more I think about it the more it becomes clear

U.S prepares to shoot down their satellite

Now, this is actually very interesting. I've been observing the news regarding this for some time. The official version is that the satellite has malfunctioned and now represents a danger to us. They say It is carrying highly toxic rocket fuel. That was the official version which I don't believe for a second. I find it strange that the U.S are ready to spend $60 million just to shoot down a satellite. The more believable version is that the U.S want to test their anti-satellite weapons just like China did last year. This is actually what China is saying about this.Russia is also not very trusting

Russian bombers are flying further and more often

Today I decided to write about something different. About Russian patrolling bombers in the Western Pacific. U.S jets intercepted two Russia Tupolev 95 Bear bombers in the western pacific. One flew just over the aircraft carrier USS Nimitz while the other was 50 miles away and 2 more were 100 miles away. The bombers took off the Ukrainka air base in the far east. Japanese officials say they violated its airspace. Russia jets have been making flight over the western pacific for several months now. In September U.S jets were scrambled to intercept a plane that came 50 miles of the coastline. There

Bush defends Iraq strategy

George Bush used his seventh and final State of Union to defend his war in Iraq. He warned against the dangers of withdrawing US troops that would undermine the progress achieved in the recent months. He praised the results of the "surge" of U.S troops sent to Iraq last year.Bush said that in was in the interests of our nation that we succeed. Then he continued with the usual stuff like that the U.S army will prevail. In the speech Bush didn't mention the National Intelligence Estimate report that Iran was not producing nuclear weapons nor did he mention the chaos in Gaza after the Israeli

US Submits Missile Plans

The US seeking to ease the tension with Russian submitted a formal proposal to Russia for cooperation on missile defense in eastern Europe. US also addressed another issue concerning Conventional Forces in Europe and made a proposal that would discourage Moscow from withdrawing from the treaty. These proposals have been discussed between both countries, but Russian wanted to have them written on paper before continuing the talks. Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice and Russia's Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov are going to discuss them on Monday. The documents deal with U.S. plans to install

Iran made steps for atomic transparency

IAEA says Iran has made some progress in revealing the extent of its nuclear programme but is still defying UN demands to suspend uranium enrichment. Iranian chief negotiator Saeed Jalili said that the information provided to the IAEA shows that Iran is still far away to produce nuclear weapons and should defuse calls for further sanctions. /futher more he said that a third round of sanctions would effect cooperation with IAEA. The US says that Iran continues to defy the UN ans stop it's uranium enrichment. And would seek greater sanctions for Iran.Al Jazeera
