The biggest bench in the world

At Park Guell, in Barcelona, there's a famous serpentine bench designed by Gaudi. The unique shape of the serpentine bench enables the people sitting on it to converse privately, although the square is large. The bench is tiled and in order to dry up quickly after it rains, and to stop people from sitting in the wet part of the bench, small bumps were installed by Gaudí, the famous architect.

Pamplona bull-running festival

In the city of Pamplona, in Spain they have this crazy traditional bull-running festival where they free some bulls that run through the city roads after men. I really can't understand the point of this dangerous tradition. This year a n American tourist was gored in the abdomen on the third day. Of course he shouldn't be crazy enough to go to the streets..

Blast in Spain Kills Bodyguard

In Spain's northern Basque country a car exploded killing a bodyguard working for a local Socialist party politician. The blast occured in Bilbao at 11:25 GMT on Tuesday. The spanish media reporded this as a car bomb, but no confirmation has yet been given from the officials. "The car caught fire and one person left the vehicle," said a police spokesman. While there was no immediate claim of responsibility, attention immediately focused on the separatist group ETA, which resumed full-scale attacks in August after calling off a ceasefire. fallas 2007

In Valencia, the Fallas festival, including the painfully loud "Mascleta" and the astonishingly enormous Fallas themselves are the only reason you need to visit Spain at least once in your lifetime. Some 700 or so "fallas", or large and small papier-mache monuments mounted over wood frames, are burnt to cinders on the evening of 19th March. "Falla" (the monument itself) originated from the wooden candleholders, called "parots" or "pelmodos" that city carpenters used in their workshops during the winter. They would bring them out into the streets in the spring and

hieroglyphics will disappear in pre-Aztec city

North of Veracruz is the town of Papantla. Just outside of Papantla are some mysterious and fascinating archaeological ruins: El Tajin. The Aztecs ruled Mexico when the Spanish arrived and were at their strongest in the 13th and 14th centuries. El Tajin city was built on the tropical coast of Veracuz, by the Totonac civilization. Pre-Aztec ruined city architecture is so famous for its reliefs, many of them are depicting an ancient Mesoamerican ball game, that can be compared to basketball. But scientists say, that carved stone murals are threaten to be erased by oil refineries and acid air pollutants
