Sleep Talking: Do you do it?

Here is an interesting blog I found where someone recorded themselves sleep talking and you can listen! http://dansleep.blogspot.com/People who have slept in the same room as me claim that I talk in my sleep. Now that I am wanting to keep track of dreams using a voice activated tape recorder, I am going to find out what I say when asleep. The first time I found out how much I moan, and that the alarm really did go off after an hour nap, and that I never heard it.I slept nearly three hours for the nap. The most intelligible thing people say I have said in my sleep is the phrase "rip up grass

Don't leave a baby asleep in car seats

According to experts, babies should not be left asleep in car seats because of a higher risk of stopping breathing. Children aged under one month old are particularly vulnerable when seated. The element of risk is higher because the reflex to keep the head upright, allowing unimpeded breathing, is still developing at this age. The findings were based on an analysis of all unexpected deaths among babies up to 12 months in the Canadian province of Quebec between 1991 and 2000. In all, 534 babies died during this period but the cause of death was fully investigated in only 508. Of these, 17 occurred

Sleepless in Penzance

A man broke the world record for sleep deprivation by being awake for 11 days and nights. Tony Wright, 42, from Penzance, was trying to beat the Guinness world record of 264 sleepless hours set by Randy Gardner in the US in 1964. A webcam and CCTV cameras monitored him, reports the BBC. During the record attempt, Mr Wright noticed his speech becoming incomprehensible at times and colours appearing very bright. The attempt was part of Mr Wright's research into the body's relationship to sleep. He argues that parts of the human brain require a different amount of sleep and it is possible

sleep!! say scientists

We form and store huge numbers of experiences in the head every day, and sleep seems to be the way the brain copes with it all.Scientists say sleep strengthens the memory and helps the brain sort out the masses of information we soak up each day."Sleep helps us extract rules from our experiences. It's like knowing the difference between dogs and cats, even if it's hard to explain."Lead researcher Bob Stickgold, professor of psychiatry at the Harvard Medical School, said: "We're not just stabilising memories during sleep. We're extracting the meaning."/ananova.com/

Improve the quality of your sleep with sleep diary

If you have trouble falling asleep at night, or do not have regular sleeping pattern then the following technique should be very useful. Keep in mind, though, that in order to see results you may need to follow this technique regularly for a few weeks. The technique is simple - in order to become more aware of your sleeping habits, keep a sleep diary. By keeping a sleep diary you can become aware of any bad sleeping habits which you can then eliminate. Becoming aware is the first step and a sleep diary can help you with this. A sleep diary should make a note of the following:
