When Kosovo declared its independence from Seribia it was backed by the US, France, Germany, Britain and other countries. Russia opposed to that decision but no one listened. Yesterday, Feb 17, Kosovo has declared Independence. Thousands of albanians filled the streets in celebration, whereas, Serbia's Prime Minister will address the U.N security council about this.France, Germany, Britain, Italy and the U.S(which in 1996 bombed Serbia) support Kosovo's independence. However, Russia, China, Spain, Cyprus and many other countries oppose the decision saing this move violates the International law and could jeopardize security and incite violence in the region.If other countries recognize Kosovo's independence they are setting a dangerous precedent. Hungarian MOL offered to unite 8 gas transmission companies of Central and Eastern Europe into a New Europe Transmission System (NETS) and construct a gad pipe line Nabucco around Russia. MOL is planing to constructs the gas pipe line system in Hungary, Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Romania, Bulgaria and Austria. Monday morning, an explosion went off. It partly destroyed a building as it ripped through shops in the Bill Clinton Boulevard. The cause of the explosion is unknown. A police spokesman confirmed that two people had died and 11 were wounded. The population of Kosovo is 90 per cent ethnic Albanian. The territory has been run by the United Nations and patrolled by Nato since 1999. Leaders of Serbia and Kosovo are expected to negotiate on the territory's future on Friday.
