| LiveJournal, the vibrant Russian blogging community that accounts for nearly 50 per cent of blogging in Russia, may not be lively for much longer. The site, like most other forms of media and free expression in Russia, is in jeopardy as authorities are seeking to rein in independent voices. Today, Savva Terentyev, a musician in Syktyvkar, 1,000 km northeast of Moscow, is being tried as an extremist for blowing off steam about the local police on another user’s LiveJournal blog. It’s the first time Russia has prosecuted someone for blogging. Meanwhile, Moscow is trying to gain further control

| There are many things which can happen only in Russia and this is one of those things. A drunk tank driver drove his tank into a village to buy some vodka. In the video you can see him climbing into the tank with 2 bottles. As he tried to leave, he smashed through a fence and rammed a cottage. Some think he wasn't drunk and the clumsy way he got into the tank was because of ice on the tank. But I think he was drunk. | Russian president Vladimir Putin has warned Ukraine that he will aim nuclear missiles at it if Ukraine joins Nato and accepts the U.S missile shield on its territory. Russia wasn't happy about the expansion of Nato into former soviet countries - Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia and especially unhappy about the anti-missile defense sites in Eastern Europe: Poland and the Czech Republic. The Ukrainian politicians reacted by saying Ukraine has the right to form its own foreign and defense policies. | Today I decided to write about something different. About Russian patrolling bombers in the Western Pacific. U.S jets intercepted two Russia Tupolev 95 Bear bombers in the western pacific. One flew just over the aircraft carrier USS Nimitz while the other was 50 miles away and 2 more were 100 miles away. The bombers took off the Ukrainka air base in the far east. Japanese officials say they violated its airspace. Russia jets have been making flight over the western pacific for several months now. In September U.S jets were scrambled to intercept a plane that came 50 miles of the coastline. There
