Al Gore and the U.N.'s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change have won the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize for their work raising awareness about global warming. The Nobel committee cited them "for their efforts to build up and disseminate greater knowledge about man-made climate change, and to lay the foundations for the measures that are needed to counteract such change." The IPCC and Gore will each get a gold medal, a diploma and a share of $1.5 million. The award ceremony will be held December 10 in Oslo, Norway.

Epic Games and Microsoft Game Studios' alien shooter game 'Gears of War' took three honors at the Game Developers Choice Awards as the best game, technology and visual arts.Other top winners chosen by game makers were Clover Studio and Capcom Entertainment's nature-adventure game "Okami," which won awards for character design and innovation, and Nintendo Co. Ltd.'s "Wii Sports," taking home prizes for game design and innovation.All winners were announced at the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco.

A $25 million prize was established for anyone, who can come up with a solution, how to remove greenhouse gases from the atmosphere.The closing date for Earth Challenge contest is 8 February 2010.
