Achtung! Motorola Milestone now free on contract in Germany, sort of

By studio  in  Gadgets

Already jealous of the multitouch functionality afforded by Motorola Droids (or Milestones, as it were) sold outside the United States? Well, you might just want to look away for this one -- it seems that O2 is now practically giving away the phone in Germany. Specifically, it’s selling it for a mere €1 with a 2 year-contract, which itself can be had for as little as €20 per month. As with other non-US carries, however, you’ll have to make do without Google’s own free navigation service, but you will at least get a 60-day Motorola’s MotoNAV service in its place, and the endless joy that   read more

Apple ponies up free Mini DisplayPort spec licenses

By studio  in  Gadgets

Apple has just announced that -- in addition to shipping all new computers with the Mini DisplayPort -- they’re offering no-fee licenses to companies that develop products utilizing the connection, hoping to create a de facto standard. Of course, the VESA-approved DisplayPort hasn’t been widely adopted, so it remains to be seen whether its miniature sibling will ever take off. At any rate, it looks like the company might have learned a thing or two back in the day, when FireWire’s steep licensing fees slowed its progress as a serious contender to USB. You hear that, hardware developers?   read more

AMD ’breaks free’, creates site dedicated to Intel’s antitrust ruling

By studio  in  Gadgets

We knew AMD would be celebrating its victory over Intel and its record $1.45 billion fine doled out by EU over violation of antitrust rules, but we figured that just meant a very fancy cake and maybe a trip to the local zoo. Nay, we were mistaken, as the chip maker has gone all out in creating an entire website dedicated to its victory. "AMD Break Free" is pretty amazing in its thoroughness, and you’ll find all kinds of court documents, press releases, explanations of antitrust laws, and even a news feed to follow further developments. Of course, Intel’s appeal is a sure sign this case will   read more

Twitter and Facebook for Xbox Live will be free for Gold members, ’free trial’ for Silver

By studio  in  Gadgets

This shouldn’t really come as too much of a surprise, but anyone wanting to enjoy Twitter and Facebook on Xbox Live will have to pony up for Gold member subscription, the same premium prerequisite currently needed for Netflix Instant Watch and pretty much all online gaming. Silver membership will be given a "free trial," but exactly what limitations that entails, or if they’ll be an option to "upgrade" to the full version, is anyone’s guess.   read more

Google gifting free airport WiFi for the holidays

By studio  in  Gadgets

We really want to dislike Google. Such a massive company with unbelievable wealth and control over so much of our data must be evil, right? But man, free airport WiFi for the holidays? Oh, and it starts now. Hey, at least we can still hate those money grubbing airport WiFi service providers. Hit the read link to find out if the airports in your holiday plans are covered. A new site offering prizes for free.

By Rxbby  in  Make Money Online

Yes, you read correctly. There is yet another website out there getting more and more popular as the days pass. No, they do not advertise crazy, no they do not flood peoples inbox's with spam. The reason it's growing so rapid, is because the site is invite only, and because of this the only way it spreads is word of mouth. The site started out with just 100 members from the United States, then they got emails saying lots of their friends wanted in. The site was confused because this was just beta, and people already wanted in. The site was and still is simple. You log in for 2 PTZ (the sites   read more

Unlocked, contract-free HTC HD2 will be available November 11 for a lot of money

By studio  in  Gadgets

We know the HD2 is hitting O2 later this month and Vodafone is getting the handset in Spain in December, but now it looks like the unlocked version isn’t too far off either: UK retailer Clove says it’ll be out on November 11 for £469, about $740 US. Importing will soon follow, to be sure, but though the phone is unlocked and sim-free we’ll be limited to EDGE in the States until that US-specific version hits our shores next year. The question is: will we be strong enough to wait?   read more
