Baghdad police reported, that a suicide car bomber detonated explosives in a busy commercial districtin the central Baghdad, killing 26 people and wounding 54 others.The attack took place in a book market along Mutanabi Street at 11:45 a.m.Mutanabi Street, named after a legendary 10th-century poet, once attracted Baghdad's intellectuals, who gathered at the bookshops for a lively exchange of ideas. Pieces of flesh and the remains of books were scattered everywhere.

Suicide attacks have become more common as Taliban militants step up their insurgency against the Afghan government.In estern Afghanistan the bomber tryed to get to the pedestrian gate, wearing the explosive vest, and detonated it, killed himself, 8 people and wounded 5. There are no NATO casualties among the dead, only 2 Afghan National Policemen and 6 Afghan civilians.There was also a higher toll in the attack, when a suicide bomber killed himself and 10 more people, by walking and detonating in a crowd just outside the gates of NATO's Forward Operating Base Salerno.
