Virtual worlds can be valuable places where children rehearse what they will do in real life, reveals research. They are also a "powerful and engaging" alternative to more passive pursuits such as watching TV, said the BBC-sponsored study. The research was done with children using the BBC's Adventure Rock virtual world, aimed at those aged 6-12. My 4 year old son came screaming out of the bathroom to tell me he’d dropped his toothbrush in the toilet. So I fished it out and threw it in the garbage. I am extremely puzzled, and very disgruntled at the obvious outdated mess the Child Support system is in in this country. Where I live, it is a so called 'right to work' state. Nowadays children are more inclined to watch TV or playing video games for hours rather engage in physical activities. Such a sedentary lifestyle has increased the likelihood of childhood obesity, diabetes and other health problems to children which can easily be prevented if one is active physically through sports. Two trains design to be child-friendly are now circling the 14.3km kishigawa line in Japan. The idea is to make public transport more friendly, especially to women and children. Both trains are full of toys, tv screens showing cartoons, immaculately clean wooden flooring and cots for younger children.If this idea catches on in other countries this would be wonderful. I really like the friendly trains
