The Sun is no longer the largest object in our solar system. On October 23 Comet 17P/Holmes exploded making in one million times brighter for a few hours and bigger. It was measured at 0.9 million miles across. For comparison, the Sun is about 864,900 miles in diameter. The comet should start to shirk to it's normal size soon. More images of the comet
