Australian conservationists are held onboard a Japanese whaling ship

Two men from the Sea Shepherd conservation group Benjamin Potts and Giles Lane are being held on board of a whaling ship Yushin Maru 2. The two boarded the harpoon ship on Tuesday near Antarctica and were detained. Both sides are accusing each other of behaving like terrorists. I know that the year is still beginning but check this out - Five hundred drunken teenagers have attacked police during a wild party in the Australian city of Melbourne. Officers answering a complaint about noise were forced to retreat and await reinforcements after they were attacked with rocks and bottles.The teenager who threw the party while his parents were away could now face a bill for thousands of dollars to pay for the damage done in the rampage. Hostage Situation in Australia:Resolved

Yesterday a man armed with a knife held a baby hostage northeast of Adelaide has surrendered peacefully after a four-hour stand-off. Police negotiators resolved the incident at a house in Berri Road, Hope Valley, shortly before 5pm (CST). The man left the house, handed over the baby and surrendered to police. Hostage situation in Australia

A Man armed with a knife is holding a child hostage in a house, northeast of Adelaide. Armed police have surrounded the house in Hope Valley and are negotiating with the man b y phone. Earlier a woman and a baby also were being held in the house but were allowed to leave about four hours after the siege began at 12.30pm (CST). A woman left the house with the baby about 4.30pm (CST) but the man had remained inside with the other child. The relations between the man and the woman are unknown as arethe reason the why did the man take hostages.News

Giant Toad

A giant toad was found in Australia, which looks more like a dog. The toad weighs around one kilo and is the biggest ever found in Australia."It's huge, to put it mildly," said Frogwatch coordinator. "The biggest toads are usually females but this one was a rampant male I would hate to meet his big sister."Frogwatch is preoccupied with poisonous toad wiping out, because they kill local animals.

skateboarding from Perth to Brisbane

David Cornthwaite is completing his 3,600-mile journey in Brisbane.., having started his journey in Perth, in August.David is a 27 year old graphic designer, he started skateboarding two years ago, and decided to start his journey after waking up one morning and realising he hated his job.He told: "I thought, the only thing keeping me going is the skate to and from work. I saw a Lonely Planet guide to Australia. There was a map on the back. Perth was on one side and Brisbane on the other and I thought, 'that'll do'."He had a real adventure..he had been blown off his board by the backdraft
