Grapes under City of London

Archaeologists found a depiction of goldfinch and bunches of purple grapes painted almost 2 000 years ago beneath an Italian restaurant in the City of London. This find can be considered most significant for two decades. When the Romans stayed in Britain back then, this part of London, where the depiction was found, was considered most prestigious. Experts hope that the entire decorative scheme, believed to have been part of a building demolished after a fire, may eventually be reconstructed. The find will be published tomorrow by London

The capacities were found digging at the Pyrgos-Mavroraki site in Cyprus. The perfumes — named for the Greek goddesses Hera, Athena, Aphrodite and Artemis — are displayed behind glass, with a lid that visitors can lift up to smell the fragrances.

Egypt's sands still have secrets to reveal

Archaeologists unveiled the tombs of a pharaonic butler and scribe that have been buried for more than 3,000 years. Although archaeologists have been exploring Egypt intensively for more than 150 years, some estimate only one-third of what lies underground in Saqqara, site of the country's most ancient pyramid, has been uncovered."The sands of Saqqara reveal lots of secrets," said Egypt's antiquities chief, Zahi Hawass, as he showed reporters a 4,000-year-old mud brick tomb that belonged to a scribe of divine records, Ka-Hay, and his wife. The tomb, along with the butler's 3,350-year-old

frog preserved in amber for 25 million years

The chunk of amber containing the almost 0.4-inch frog was uncovered by a miner in Mexico's southern Chiapas state in 2005 and was bought by a private collector, who lent it to scientists for study. This discovery was announced by the biologist Gerardo Carbot of the Chiapas Natural History and Ecology Institute. He said, that only a few other preserved frogs have been found in chunks of amber. Mostly in the Dominican Republic. Like those, the frog found in Chiapas appears to be of the genus Craugastor, whose descendants still inhabit the region.Carbot figures the frog lived 25 million years
