One way to avoid this is to ensure that the page is encrypted before you login. Be sure to add the 's' to the http:// when logging into any site that requires your personal information. Change this http:// into this https:// and this will turn that webpage into an encrypted webpage. So now your personal information will be secure when you login. I notice more and more these days that Social Networks are offering rewards for certain achievements within the network it's self. Like virtual badges, or virtual ribbons, or basically just a pat on the back and a congratulations. But it's certainly not something that you can take home and hang on your wall.
