The Examiner.com has recently re-designed itself and in doing so has developed an award program for its Writer/Reporters (also known as Examiners).
As many of you are aware, I have been writing Christianity articles in the Brownsville, Texas edition of the Examiner for over a year and I began writing Political articles and reporting on Political Events for the Examiner both nationally and locally in the Brownsville edition with some articles being carried also in the national edition this...

Part 3 of A 3- Part Series on Church Organizational Government and Politics What the church should know In the past two articles we have discussed what Church Polity is, its definition and how Southern Baptist in particular are less aware than most of the role and ultimate effect Church Polity plays in the local church. But Southern Baptist and their current controversy over a name change is not the only matter of concern. There is far more at stake here. The current “Occupy Wall Street...

The role of Communion and the Lord’s Supper observance The last supper of Jesus with his disciples prior to his death at Calvary is without question as to its purpose. Jesus knew he was about to die and he wanted his disciples and all who would follow to understand without question what He was doing. Jesus was becoming the sacrificial lamb for mankind in payment for our sins. His flesh and blood would forever be symbolized by the partaking of what had been the traditional bread and wine used...

“The Real Meaning of the Zodiac” that the gospel is actually proclaimed in the stars of the Zodiac. This is an amazing book and having known the late pastor, it was a thrill to hear him address this topic with such confidence and assurance. after the birth of Christ so how else would these “wise men” even have known of the coming of the birth of Christ or prediction of the coming of the Messiah apart from looking to the sky. This would be especially true of non-Hebrew people of which these...

As another new year begins, many
people will once again be seeking meaning and purpose and questioning life
itself.
As a pastor, theologian, counselor,
psychologist and writer, this is both a subject and observation I have studied
for decades and written many articles and papers about.
This year, it occurred to me that
having attempted my hand at poetry recently on several topics, it might be fun
to attempt a simple look at the circle of life’s meaning through an
inspirational poem and so...

It’s unfortunate that far too many Christians are not aware that knowledge is just as important in their following of Christ as their trust, belief and faithfulness. Jesus said, “know” (or have knowledge of) the truth and the truth will set you free. He went on to say that He (Jesus) is the truth. “gnosis” which means “to know”. too many Christians don’t really know what they believe. Those that do know can’t explain it and many just throw out any old “psycho-babble” in an attempt to explain...

As a former and current News Paper journalist, I have recently seen a
number of violations of journalistic ethics and legal concerns among my
writer and social networking friends.
In an attempt to prevent any
future problems for them, I have chosen to address a few of the most noticeable below: A reminder to my Writer/Author and Social Networking friends: You CANNOT post Front facial photos of children or minors - even
if they are your own, friends, family or of your self. Especially with...

Change continues its push
Love the curious emotion
We want it, we need it
Our heart absorbs it
It challenges and clings
It tickles and trembles
A feeling like none other
We feel trapped, captured
We laugh, we cry, we even sing
Life uncertain but love seems sure
Then it happens, her thoughts
They depart, she departs
Change now inevitable
Hurt, emptiness, emotions pile high
The heart is now crowded,
Clutter is everywhere
No room for new emotion
Change continues its push
Pain, sorrow...

Searching for new venues
Like many of you who follow my
various writings, I am constantly searching for new venues to promote my
current work.
I am also happy to announce that
I am now adding yet another “hopeful source of income” through promoting not only myself but other writers and authors as their publicist (or as some would say, "literary agent"). As such, seeking out avenues of promotion has
brought about some very interesting finds.
Most venues are extremely
competitive and...

OK, so here’s the deal, all day long and all weekend long
most of the cable networks and pay per view channels will be emphasizing every
Friday the 13 th movie ever made as well as all the Jason, Alien and
Psycho franchise movies as well. The whole emphasis will be about evil, murder,
mayhem and people becoming psychotic. In so many ways and on so many levels
this is both sad and wrong.
I for one as a pastor,
theologian, counselor and psychologist absolutely resent this whole evil
emphasis...

When you're an OUTLAW & no one knows your name There is always something
For this Outlaw,
The name is that thing
An Outlaw, not the old west
Not the fastest gun,
The boots, spurs or vest
The name, just the name
Old England is the jive,
Thirteen hundred and twenty five
Eau’tlawe not Outlaw back in that dayAristocrats some,
To the Carolinas they say
Debtors were most,
Though criminals none,
To America’s Georgia
Or Australia they would come
Share croppers, farmers,
A hard life all
The Outlaw’s...

Hank Williams Jr - Are You Ready for Some Football?
It attracts like nothing else
Emotions stirred in every way Time is an issue
Two or three hours or more
It could be almost any day
Sixteen, nineteen, even twenty two
Meetings they say,
August, September, October
November, December also
January and February too
Sunday or Monday always
Thursday and Saturday sometimes
It moves and stirs
The appetite hungers
It wants him more and more
As he longs for it as well
Addiction sets in, taking both...

Jesus Is Coming Soon
Allot of clatter The
Bible is filled with information about the second coming of Christ and
there is much chatter these days speculating the when, why and how.
Allot of this clatter is often argumentative and even mean spirited.
Many people seem to be more interested in the “event” of Christ’s return than Christ Himself.
The following poem is my attempt to give a simple perspective of what is important about the return of Christ.
Missing the tree for the forest...
