Discovering Squidoo’s Tick Tock Module

Undertaking a search and delving into some of Squidoo’s oft underused modules can sometimes uncover some real finds. Like most of us, I tend to use the tried and trusted modules and ignore those that have no relevance to what I am writing, or whose titles do not seem to relate to their content. A little while ago, I discovered the Tick Tock module. At first glance I thought it was a type of countdown module, and as I use that actual module fairly often, I just ignored the title and moved on....

Doctor Who: Simply Epic

Within the first ten minutes of the new series of Doctor Who, the Doctor was dead. Suddenly, my whole childhood died too. Picture the scene: Matt Smith, the latest time traveller, meets a mysterious person dressed as a 1969 astronaut and is shot as he tries to regenerate into his new body. Not one shot, but several. Shocking for anyone who has followed the Doctor’s adventures since the 1960s. So, did we see the end of the Doctor? Is this how we witness his demise? Only time will tell....

British Glam Rock Goes Top 100

I have been watching Bonnie’s four-year-old lens British Glam Rock of the 1970s creep up the Squidoo rankings over the past week or so. Suddenly, traffic has picked up, sending it amongst today’s Top 100. Looking back at the stats, this page has been placed in these hallowed grounds before, but that was at a time when Squidoo had around 200 lenses to its name, tops. The good news does not stop there, however. Its ascent has had another benefit. It also now ranks at number four in its...

Helping Japan: A Music Contribution

Like everybody who watched the tragic events of what has happened in Japan, I felt I needed to do something to help and hopefully encourage others to help too through something I like to write about. Squidoo is a wonderful platform for creating lenses about charitable causes and having the opportunity to donating proceeds to specified charities. From what I have seen, many lensmasters are doing just that in the wake of the Japanese disaster. As for me, I put my thinking cap on to try and come up with something from my own niche: music. My knowledge of Japanese music is practically zero, but then

Is SquidU A Magnet For Brawlers…?

I don’t go into SquidU very often, but when I do, I almost always witness a post or two that is either in the middle of a brawl or one that is primed to explode. I understand that everyone is not going to agree about everything, but my understanding was that the forum was essentially a place to find assistance and encouragement. Not anymore, it seems. If you plan on visiting SquidU, you had better come armed. Have your best rapier tongue at the ready before you enter the fray, otherwise you may find yourself leaving with your tail between your legs, whimpering. It seems that a simple comment
