I recently visited a small convenience store in Houston, Texas. Looking for a quick snack to eat and a drink I settled on some cheese and crackers. They were priced at 3 for $1.oo. I opted for only two thinking they would be 39 cents each. The attendant rings them up and says the total is 98 cents. I asked how much they each cost and was told 39 cents each, as I had thought. I asked how much tax was on a dollar and was told 8 cents. Not known for my genious I did manage to add 39 +39+8 and came up with 86 cents...not 98.
