I married into an ultra-cool family. Monique’s Mom, sister Annmarie, and my nephew David went to Disney World this week. When they came back, they brought me Flying Buzz! This Buzz Lightyear absolutely rocks… I knew when I saw him in the package that he was cool. I didn’t get just HOW cool until I’d flown him around a bit. The initial impulse is to try and achieve a straight up and down hover. This is briefly possible, but difficult to maintain. Between his balance, and the cord, sooner or...

Blue Mountain Wallcoverings GAPP1761 Buzz Lightyear Self-Stick Room Appliqués; That’s a long mouthful of a title. I think I could peel and stick all of them to my wall before I could finish typing the name!
The Buzz Lightyear Appliques are excellent Toy Story themed peel and stick decals. You can wash them, scrub them, stick them on, or peel them off. Great way to decorate a room if you’re not sure how long your children will remain interested. When the interest is over, just peel them off....

It’s not often that I find a bad Buzz Lightyear toy. Really hate when that happens. In this case, they’ve got a cool idea… a toy pistol just like Buzz’s laser from his Star Command cartoons. It fires soft darts, seems like a really fun toy. But a quick look at the customer review score shows big trouble. Down the list, over and over, broken, broken, broken, won’t work, broken, broken… There are a very small number of happy parents, but a huge percentage have nothing but complaints. Many of...

Disney’s Toy Story Buzz Lightyear Pillow & Throw Blanket make a wonderful addition to any space ranger’s equipment inventory. Buzz Lightyear is a soft and huggable plush, full length is about 20″, and sitting comes to about 13″ tall. He measures about 9″ wide, and is ‘spot clean’ only. No washing.
The throw blanket is a soft 100% polyester. It measures 40″ x 50″, and has the words “No Toy Gets Left Behind” on it. The blanket is machine washable. This is an awesome doll/pillow and blanket...

Disney’s Toy Story 3 Bust Bank of Buzz Lightyear is a typical lightweight PVC plastic bank… except that it’s Buzz Lightyear! At nearly 7 inches in height, 6 wide and 5 deep, it’s a good size for storing a few coins in. Not so big as to be trouble when full, and reasonable that a child could fill one up. It’s hyped as good for children and for adults; i.e. office space, room decor. Personally, I disagree. I think it’s great for kids. Wonderful way to encourage saving, and the children have an...

I enjoy these Toy Story Buddy Packs. They’re short, about 2″ tall (though Woody is usually taller). No articulation, these are purely static display. What’s funny, is I have about 5 Buddy Pack sets, mainly all the ones that had Buzz Lightyear included. But I didn’t recognize this one, the Protector Waving set. So Monique and I marched out to look over my collection, just to make sure. Turns out, this one is NOT there… an oversight I’m going to have to correct! As far as playability, they make...

Playhut Toy Story Big Buzz is a great idea. Sort of like a ‘habitrail’ for kids! Comes with a nearly life-sized Buzz Lightyear, and flanked on either side by play cubes. The cubes include ball targets and a launcher, and it’s all easily assembled with twist technology and velcro ties. One thing I really like about Playhut systems is their modularity. Other Playhut sets can be connected with this one. Again, there’s the ‘habitrail’ reference- just keep building! The product description claims...

Playskool Mr. Potato Head Spud Lightyear… I nearly choked on my coffee when I saw this one! What a delightful sense of humor :^)
Spud Lightyear is a clever and lighthearted parody of Buzz Lightyear. Standardized full-sized potato, compatible with other Mr. Potato Head kits. He comes with eyes, nose, teeth, two arms, shoes, visor, jet pack, back plate and the chest piece. Titled after Toy Story 3, but I don’t really see anything to differentiate it from one movie to the next. That aside, this...

The Toy Story 3 Deluxe Talking Buzz Figure is a major departure from Buzz Lightyear’s normal sculpt. With a blockier build and more cartoony look, he’s got his pros and cons. I do like the size- at 6 inches tall, he’s a good size for toddlers, and a nice mid-range size for collectors wanting to balance their display. The cartoony look seems more child-friendly, as does the overall design. For his size, he has a nice feature set; speaks a few phrases (3 to 5), is minimally poseable. The...

Buzz Lightyear Classic Costume, sized Child S(4-6). I’ll give this costume full ratings for design. It looks great. Any kid wearing this costume will be thrilled. As a matter of fact, you may have a fight on your hands when it’s time to change! Vivid colors, crisp design, an excellent overall transfer of Buzz’s space armor. Construction is another story. To begin with, sizing is a little off. I’ve seen several people mention the arms and legs are long, but the inseam rides pretty tight....

Disney Pixar Toy Story 3 UCommand Buzz Lightyear with Remote Control … That’s kind of a mouthful. But in a good way. This is one of the best Buzz Lightyears I’ve seen. There are probably 3 in my collection that are in his class, but none that outclass him. (Can you tell I want one? This Buzz has been wish-listed!)
Feature-wise, he’s pretty great. First of all, UCommand Buzz is taller than usual, at 13″ tall. The current model speaks over 70 phrases in English and Spanish. Comes with an...

The Toy Story Buzz Lightyear Cosmic Light Up Goggles are another toy that could easily be a costume accessory, or a stand-alone toy. I often wondered why nobody made a full Buzz Lightyear helmet, but I guess there’s no way to ensure safety. So the next best thing is Cosmic Goggles… I do like them. The head strap is adjustable. It needs 2 AAA batteries, looks like one on each side, for dual lights. The headband is padded, and as a sort of “one size fits all” approach, uses an elastic band to...

Update: I got a specific answer from Mattel a few minutes ago. For the final details on Buzz and Woody, see below (just under the email from Amazon) Toy Story Woody and Buzz Lightyear Figure 2-Pack differ from the Buddy Packs. Buddy Packs feature small (Usually 3 to 4 inches tall) pairs of figures. The Woody and Buzz 2-pack offers a much larger scale, at least according to the product description. There are discrepancies between the descriptions and the customer reviews that make me think...

This 12″ Toy Story Karate Action Buzz Lightyear is more ‘lightweight’ than Lightyear. If you’re considering this price, pay close attention to the details. Not only what the product specs say, but what they DON’T say. He’s 12″ tall. Has Karate Action. His head swivels to the side and back when he chops. Helmet opens and closes, and he’s reasonably articulated. His big attraction is that he’s sized to ride the Freewheeling RC Car. That’s it. He’s good for what he is, nice sculpt, decent paint,...

Toy Story Rocket Running Buzz Lightyear might be one those ideas that sound better than it actually is. Hate to say that. Buzz Lightyear looks very cool strapped to his rocket. You pull the string to rev him up, he says ‘Buzz Lightyear’ sayings, and runs for up to 10 feet. He swivels left and right at the hips. Based on the clear flywheel, plus the way his feet are attached at an offset, I have to assume that when he’s removed from the box, his feet will spin round and round in a running...
