Dance Laugh Sing Love Sleep

Happy Halloween and Blessed Samhain

Once again I find myself with no plans on Halloween. I had big plans to work at a pumpkin patch painting faces but it fell through at the last minute. So I decided to work on costumes for dancing intead. I got about $70 worth of fabric, trim, and a big velvet hat to go with my burlesque costumes. Right now I could be sewing fringe onto something. The costume that is the closest to being finished it pink and blue. I think I'll focus on that one and wear it today for Halloween. I forgot my boyfriend is working out of town today so I won't even have a vehicle to go anywhere even if I wanted to. ...

Blog of the Week

I was so surprised to be including in blogs of the week so I added the badge YOUSAYTOO gave me straight away. It's quite an honor and totally unexpected. The blog they gave the award to is here : http://craftaday.blogspot.com/ in case you missed it. I do my best to blog daily. It's a habit that has served me well over time.

Screwy Formatting When Blogs Move to Yousaytoo

I have a daily craft blog that I added to Yousaytoo a while back. I don't think my blog on crafts appeals to that wide of an audience, so maybe that explains why someone (and I don't know if it's the same person or a bunch of random people) feels compelled to give my craft blogs a negative one. Also, I've noticed that even though my blog is formatted perfectly on blogger.com, the formatting can be screwy when it reaches yousaytoo, especially if it's poetry and all the spaces get removed....

Inappropriate Photo

I got a notice from Yousaytoo that an inappropriate photo had been moved from my public gallery to my private folder so of course I had to see which one it was. It was a photo of a red leaf. Maybe it should have been wearing clothing. Or maybe the edit staff had a bit too much eggnog. I've written to them asking for an explanation. Update: They wrote me back the next day and said it has been a simple clicking error.

More Photos in My Gallery

I just posted some new photos to my gallery. Up till now I'd only posted 4 self portraits I took. I was not happy to see that one of them had a minus 2 rating and the other one had a minus 1. Why are people so heartless? It's my face, I have to look at it every day, and I'm sorry if you don't like it. Should I only put photos that I'm not in in my gallery? Would you rather just see puppies and kittens and super models? It makes me sad, it really does.

Carmen Electra and PCD on Ellen

My friend just called me and gave me a heads up that the Pussy Cat Dolls (PCD) will be on Ellen. So I looked it up on her webpage, and sure enough he was right and Carmen Electra will be on there as well. I was just watching videos from both the PCD and Carmen Electra on Youtube this morning, so what perfect timing. Ellen is on at 4 PM in my area on channel 4 (Southern CA). Can't wait. My friend already watched the show from where he lives in TX. So I have an hour to play online and then I'll try to get it if my TV will cooperate. I'm not having great luck with the direct TV convertor box.

A Word of Explanation Blogs V Articles

I blog a lot on blogger.com. Recently YouSayToo made a way to add blog feeds to YouSayToo. Since I have daily blogs I keep, each post is short and follows a time line. For example, in my daily craft blog, today's entry may merely say, "Finished knitting a sweater today." Not much of a story. So when that post is moved over to YouSayToo, it makes little sense, unless you've been following the whole list of threads relating to that project on my original blog. It's certainly a different format than me writing a whole article to post to YouSayToo. I'm only guessing YouSayToo must have wanted blog ...

Used books are grand

Since I'm doing research on romance novels, and Nora Roberts in particular, I was amused when I went to the used bookstore inside my local library and overheard two women talking. One was bragging about Nora Roberts and the other one was saying how she was too embarassed to admit she actually read romance novels. That made me smile because up until recently I avoided them like the plague. I started wondering what is it that millions of readers know that I don't know. Anyway, since the used bookstore is on the 2nd floor I swung by the library's romance paperback section before going to the ...

Be a Better Knitter

We are going through a knitting renaissance. And we are all getting better. Once you master the basic knit and purl, it's a whole new world. Here are some ways to grow as a knitter. When you pick a project, make sure it will add a new skill to your repetoire. This can be a new technique like intarsia, or a new pattern like popcorn stitches. See if you can find something just a little harder than what you've done before, but not overwhelmingly so. If you are in over your head, admit it. Set the project aside, and come back later when you have more skills. Things that used to baffle me 10 years ...

Fog

On the morn of wispy fog I stood in the chill dawn I watched it feather it’s way up the sign posts Curling like bony fingers around trees and busses and traffic lights I watched it pouring over the foothills like dry ice pours from a beaker in science lab I shiver in the coolness wondering why I didn’t wear a sweater I ...

What have we here?

Shakes the moondust off my wings.Ah, a new community. I feel like I'm in on a new opportunity. So far I've noticed that my birthdate on my profile keeps changing. Does that mean I will get more birthday presents? Or does it mean I will age faster?I love all things from the world of faerie. I love making things. Recently I've been knitting and crocheting hats for charity. I like to paint and I mostly use acrylics. I do gourd art and decorate them with woodburning, painting, engraving, and gold leaf. I'm working on a romance novel. I'm not sure I'll ever finish it, much less get it published, ...
