Lost 10 pounds

Ok, I’ve been on P90X for the past 3 weeks. So far, I’ve lost 10 pounds. So, in one month I’ve lost 10 pounds. Ok, not to sound cheesy, but it’s been a month, and I’m not a big guy. I’m down to 173 as of today (5′10″). I”m noticing some definite results, just sticking with it. I’m working out at 5AM. Yes, that sounds pretty rough, but I look forward to it. By the time I’m at work, I’m pumped.

Starting over again, again

Ok, yes, I started over again. Feeling pretty good. I’m on day 3, so I’ll skip some of the normal info. But, I tried to figure out why I failed the other times. Here goes: I tried working out at night after the kids went to bed. Honestly, it sounded like a great idea. But, by the time 8:30 rolled around, I was ready to go to bed myself. So, it was harder and harder to keep up. So, I had to adjust my schedule. I didn’t sleep enough. I was trying to get about 5-6 hours of sleep a night. Honestly, I was exhausted and fatigued. So, I’m going to up the amount of sleep I have

Day 1 – Starting over

Ok, I’m starting over again. I went for about 2 weeks, then hurt my wrist. It wasn’t because of P90X, it was because of an old injury. For some reason, I can pop my wrist out it’s joints so that I can’t even turn a door know. I think it was caused by doing the chicken wing stretch and I pulled on my hand instead of forearm to stretch. Anyway, I’m back. I started back again. I forgot how hard the workouts are. And, I know tomorrow’s plyometrics is going to crush me. Tonight’s chest and back was tough. I couldn’t do the same amount of reps I did the

P90X Results Week 2 – Day 3 Shoulders and Arms plus Ab Ripper X

Week 2 is going great. Have to admit though, my body feels fatigued. I’m noticing that more sleep helps. Last week, I averaged 5-6 hours of sleep a night. This week, I’ve bumped it up to 6-7 to see if I have any better results. I finally started losing weight a little after I ate a little more. Still can’t get over the hurdle of eating so much. It’s actually pretty hard if I eat right. Ab ripper x is still crushing me. I can feel my abs aching on several occasions and I just can’t continue. But, I take a break then move on. I can start to see some differences in

P90X Results Week 2 – Day 2 Plyometrics…getting better

Ok, this is the toughest of all the workouts. Just a reminder, plyometrics stands for jump training. So, in this workout, you are doing probably 100 or more squats, 50+ jumps. It’s a bear as they say. I got through the workout barely. I did have to stop a couple of times and come back even within the 30 second sets. I felt like I was going to upchuck maybe once. But, this told me that I was working hard enough. One thing I noticed in particular was my form. This time, I could actually tell that I was cheating with my back. So, I straightened my back for the workout and was able to drive the

P90X Review – Week 2, Day 1 Shoulders and Back

Today was a little different. I felt good, a little tired, I guess a lot of rest on the weekend made me a little slow. Today was the first workout where I could compare results. I didn’t mention this previously, but with the non cardio workouts like the Shoulders and Back, Shoulders and Arms, and the Back and Legs workouts, you track the number of repetitions you can do. So, today my goal was to do more than I did last week. Results are in and I did. For each exercise, I was able to do at least 1 to 2 more repetitions. Doesn’t sound like much but it was an accomplishment. In the initial

P90X Results Week 1

Week 1 was tough. Day 1, I knew the rest of the week would change my body. In fact, this entire workout would change my body. I already feel tight in areas like my chest and core. I can’t say it enough, that my core feels different. When working out, I actually now feel like I’m using my muscles instead of cheating with other parts of my body. Granted this doesn’t mean that I can finish all of the workouts. My abs are starting to feel better. Doing the P90X Ab Ripper 3 times this week has taken it’s toll. Granted, I haven’t been able to keep up with them on the video

P90X Results Day 6 – Kenpo X

Today has been an odd day. Why? The first 2 days of P90X I was losing weight, then I started gaining weight. Why? Well, I think I figured it out. I was taking a protein shake and a creatine shake at night. After I did, I felt pretty full, figured it was all of the liquid. I happened to check the creatine shakes numbers. There it was, 46 grams of carbohydrates. So, I nixed the shake this evening. Can’t wait to see what the morning will bring. Still hard to maintain the number of calories especially with meetings at staggered times of the day. What I felt tonight was a little different though

P90X Results Day 4 – Yoga with a twist of abs

Wasn’t sore from last night’s workout of shoulders and arms. Still feeling sore in my triceps, I learned tonight I was overcompensating with my triceps on the chest workout. Still haven’t found a good stretch that will take the soreness away. Today, I did start feeling fatigue and some soreness in my legs. So, tomorrow’s leg workout will be tough. Anyway, tonight was Yoga X. I know the typical thoughts about yoga are that it’s pretty easy. Well, this is not the case here and with other yoga classes. If you’ve ever taken a yoga class it’s tough. You’

P90x Results Day 3 – Shoulders and Arms

Ok, my legs didn’t hurt today like I expected. I feel a little stiff, but all in all, pretty good. I’m guessing I’ll feel it tomorrow. My chest is now sore from Day 1 and it feels awesome to stretch it out. Triceps are still sore and hard to stretch, I can’t touch my shoulder like I used to do. I feel bigger, probably because I’m swollen from soreness. Anyway, tonights workout, the P90X Shoulders and Arms workout, was pretty good, definitely impacted by the sore triceps, but I made it through. After last night’s workout, this was due. A little bit of a slower

P90X Review – Day 2 Plyometrics

Day 2 Plyometrics Ok, last night I woke up in the middle of the night because my triceps were aching from the push-ups. I was curious why my chest and abs didn’t feel sore. Well, that came later on in the day. Tonight was Plyometrics better known as the jump workout. Ugh, this was tough, I don’t think I’ve ever jumped this much. I made it through, had to stop several times. Caught myself one time doing a squat by keeping my legs straight and bending at the waist. At that point I knew I was...

If I have a full time job and kids, will I have time to do the P90X?

That answer is really up to you. Honestly, I’m not a morning person, I can stay up all night long. So, I wait until the kids go to bed, then I do the workouts. This way I have plenty of time to do the exercises without any interruptions or time constraints. It works well with a couple of friends that have crazy working hours as well. One of the other things you will figure out is how to maintain the diet. I hate to cook, so I don’t want to also add another hour to my day making special meals. If you take some time to think about it, you can get everything you need for your meals at

Can teens do P90X? Yes, here is some background

Is P90X good for teenagers, a quick answer.. Yes, any typical teenager can perform the P90X exercises.  In general, the exercises are no different from those experienced in standard school sports training routines. The exercises are typical to many circuit training routines. A lot of the exercises don’t even involve weights.  Please keep in mind there are some exercises that use weights or resistance bands.  But overall, all of the exercises are standard exercises like push-ups, pull-ups and sit-ups but with a lot of variation and repetition.  Please keep in mind on a professional trainer and this
