I bought recently a 60mm macro for my camera. it such a fun toy. I got some cool photo of my kids eyeball. My daughter thinks it looks gross because she thinks it looks like a venus fly trap. Where she got that idea from? probably my son who loves plants which acts like some crazy science fiction thingee. We tried having one of those but it didn't last very long. I think it requires too much moisture. anyways back to the macro. the 60mm at 2.8 has good blur of the background, so you can use it as a portrait lens too. it would be like having a 100mm equivalent on a 35mm camera. Once I go get myself a 5d or some other full frame sensor digital SLR, then this wouldn't work. so maybe 2-3 years of use then I'll put it back on craigslist. This lens is very sharp edge to edge. it's feels sharpter then my 50mm f1.4. The colors look very good. Overall I like this lens. With the lens hood on it, it's pretty long.
One thing I wish it had was a focus limiter switch. the range from a few inch to infinity is long for the motor to spin thru. that is the weak point on the lens, it's a little slower to focus. Other then that, it's a wonderful addition to my lens.
