School Lockers Never Change Throughout The Years!

Staying on the topic of high school, I never was thrilled by where I went to school. Uniondale was located in Long Island and was at that time an affluent suburban area where many middle class families raised their children. My folks moved us out there in February, 1977. Almost immediately, I became very uneasy by my new surroundings. I thought the majority of students there were spoiled, arrogant and downright unfriendly. There were some pluses. I received my first school locker in 8th grade. I never had one before as the junior high school I attended in Brooklyn never provided their students Lockers.
My guess was that School Lockers were either too expensive to maintain or school officials thought they were traps for illegal behavior. They didn't even have Gym Lockers although I will admit the school was pretty old and didn't have the facilities to house them.
I've always thought that having your own personal locker in school was the closest to privacy that you could have. Many students set their lockers like their own bedroom, putting up mini-posters and decals of their favorite sports team, athlete or entertainment figures.
