One of the scariest and most famous airport in the world

St Maarten or St Martin is a lovely island island in the Caribbean half belongs to France and the other half to the Netherlands Antilles and it is the smallest inhabitated island divided between two countries. The French side is technically part of the European Union and uses the Euro as currency. Another reason whe St Maarten has become famous, especially on the internet, is for the Princess Juliana International Airport on the Dutch side. The approach on land is so short that planes seem to be nearly touching the beach before they land, photos and videos of planes landing at this airport are very popular and the beach is one of the best places for close encounter type of planespotting. Taking off at this airport with such a short runway with little room to avoid the mountains is actually trickier for pilots than the landing.
