Sunset Pitcures from Point Reyes, California

These pictures were taken yesterday at the Wild Cat Camp in Point Reyes, California.

The sunset was beаutiful, and it is the best I could do with my 5-year old amateur Olympus.

Description: Wildcat Camp is located in an open meadow on a bluff overlooking the ocean with a short walk to the beach and a 3.2 kilometer (2.0 miles) round-trip walk to Alamere Falls. It is a 10 kilometer (6.3 miles) hike from Bear Valley or an 8.8 kilometer (5.5 miles) hike on the Coast Trail from Palomarin with access to Bass Lake. Five individual sites and three group sites; three of the individual sites only hold up to four people.

Proactively Fight Identity Theft

One of my blog readers asked for my opinion on the danger of being a subject of identity theft in the modern society. My initial position on the topic (before I started Internet digging) was complete problem rejection. I considered the related noise as a one more syndrome of the modern world paranoia. However, to my surprise, the Internet delivered significant amount of factual and statistical data proving the validation of the problem reality. Identity Theft Just two shocking cases:A young teenager daughter is asking for mommy’s credit card information to order pizza for the party. Mommy

Advanced Blogging Features with Haloscan

One of the limitations of the Blogger platform is inability to send trackbacks when you make a post. A trackback is a simple acknowledgment, sent via a network signal (ping) from the originating site to the receiving site. Trackback requires both sites to be trackback enabled in order to establish this communication. A free service from Haloscan allows a blogger to send trackbacks to other blogs, and also display the trackbacks which have been sent to the blog. Haloscan also puts comments features on the higher level, allowing advanced comments management and enhanced performance. And, finally

A month ago, we observed an extraordinary sunset in Sedona, Arizona. It was not on sea, but on red rocks. City native citizens stopped their cars, while home from work, to see that. May be I will post them as well. But, it is hard to do anything good with my old camera. Time for change, and I will do that before our vacation in August.
This place (Point Reyes) is one of the few spots in our area, when the walk-in camp is located near the ocean beach. Peaceful and relaxing, since there is a 6-mile hike involved, there are not many people there as well.

I think that the nicest sunsets are on sea.. but I'm not to trust because I lived with it all my life. When I was young I used to say that I couldn't live without it.. But as we grow up we begin to be sure that we can't say never.

I guess you are right. I lived half of my life near the sea, but I never loved the sea more than other natural beauties. I prefer forrest, mountains, caves, waterfalls... My wife was born near the sea, and lived all her life near one or another. Ironically, she does not know how to swim. I took me enormous efforts to make her snorkle, and now she likes that as well.

I love also all natural beauties and that's why I like to travel so much. But nothing is comparable of the never the same view that we have each day looking to the sea and all the power that we can feel in all that eternal movement.

If you like snorkling and corals, the best place for us was Egypt (Sinai). Empty beaches, and a lot of corals and exotic fish. For sea life, the best place was Corcovado on Costa Rica Pacific - we saw a lot of whales, dolphins, and even gigantic sea turtles making sex very-very close.
What are your favorite destinations?

My problem is always the same: money. lol
But I always tried to travel and the places I enjoyed the most were Cape Verde (S.Vicent island), Azores, Cuba and Prague. S.Vicent is a former portuguese colony and it's incredibly calm with very nice people with music in the streets everywhere at night. It's not a very touristic place like Sal (another island) and I loved it. I was there last year and I'm going again this year because my husband is a journalist in Euronews and he's going to do a music festival there (and I don't pay! lol)
Azores are Portuguese islands and they are very nice with not much tourists and depending the time of the year flowers everywhere, small white houses and a lovely temperature all year. Prague is the most beautiful city I know and Cuba is not only a nice place (specially La Habana) but the people are so warm and nice that I got in love. I think that the people are very similar with the one of Cape Verde. I think Cuba is a country with a soul.

It is good that you speak Portuegese, and you can enjoy these places to a full extent. We do not speak Spanish, and sometimes I felt sorry that I cannot communicate in the native language, when we were in Costa Rica, and especially in Ecuador, which is not so popular tourist destination. But, the people are so friendly, and they are so trying to help that you can make it with English as well. Traveling to Cuba is considered illegal from US, but many people do that anyway, making the arrangements through Canada (no stamps in the passport).
Have you ever been in US?

that's right! It's what I think. When I came to France my mother cried a lot and I told her that she had to think not that we would be 2000km far away, but 2 hours far away. It makes all the difference when we think positively. :)

I don't think this has something to do with being nice.. I'm not very nice with my mother usually and unfortunately. I always had some difficulties in my relation with her. I always have difficulties to show my feelings and she has the same problem. Perhaps we are very similar what turns everything worse. But fortunately I'm not a pessimist person and she is. Can you imagine that if we tell her that we almost had an accident she will not sleep that night? She is always looking for life in the darkest way. I have two sisters and one brother and we are always trying to hide our problems from her because it will be worst for us also. The first thing we say when something happens is "don't tell mum!"

Hiding feeling is mostly the "macho culture" sign, adopted by men. But, in the Soviet Union it was not unusual among women too. It came from the political system reality, when you had to hide your real thoughts and feelings to be the same as everybody. It so penetrated into people mind, that in spite the fact the Union is dead long ago, it is seating there. Young Russian generation should be different, but our personalities are formed by the situation at the time.

Regarding hiding the bad things, I can understan you completely. When my cousin was killed, nobody told about to my grandma. His family emigrated, so it was easy to cover the truth. My gradma died many years later without knowing... At the time, it was not my decision, but now I wonder if that was a right thing to do.

Perhaps it was better for her not to know the truth, but what if suddenly she had known about it by a neighbor or somebody else that thought she already knew it? Do you think she would forgive not being told about it?
