Mount Hua – a very dangerous mountain hiking trail
Mount Hua or Hua Shan in Chinese is located in Shaanxi Province, about 120 kilometres east of the city of Xi’an, near the city Huayin in China. Also known as Xiyuè, Western Great Mountain, it is the western mountain of China’s Five Sacred Taoist Mountains, and has a long history of religious significance. Originally classified as having three peaks, in modern times the mountain is classified as five main peaks, of which the highest is the South Peak at 2154.9m.
The literal translation of “Hua Shan” is “Flowery Mountain” or “Splendid Mountain”. The character “華” or “华” (hua) has long been used as literary the political synonym for China itself.
