Roadkill UV Tool – Standalone UVW Unwrapping For Your 3D Assets

 in  Games
Share

This program is awesome. Based on parts of the Blender 3D code base, Roadkill UV Tool is so good at what it does it will sicken you over how much time you’ve probably spent unwrapping your model elements in the past. Yes, I know, that sounds like marketing. I pull chains not. This program is great because of one very important thing that is hard to find in the 3D artist’s toolbox: Simplicity. It only has a few different things you can do: Load a model, pick some edges, tap ‘c’ to cut those edges, and watch the evil 3D duck goat wizardry take place on the UV view panel just   read more

I just was shared this image about how much the xbox 360 sucks, and so I will share it to you. I don’t do this a lot, but this one made my whole day. Enjoy. Whoever made this, thanks. Whether you relate because of games, selection, or simply the evil associated with Xbox Live, I’m sure you can appreciate it. Thanks to my friend JostVice for linking me.   read more

Unity Prefabs site UnityPrefabs.com is Trash

 in  Games

First of all, Freedom Of Speech you fluffy headed clone fruit cakes. Unity Prefabs? The tornado twins stole the idea for their little unity prefabs store from me. I approached the tornado twins a while back and became friendly with them. Told them I wanted to make a website where people could get unity 3d prefabs and that I would like to include them to leverage their traffic from youtube. I have youtube emails with them asking me for more information and pretending that we will do unity prefabs together. Luring me into a false sense of trust, simply to steal my idea and execute it like two inexperienced   read more

NEW Xbox 360 – Kinect Ready – Look Closer

 in  Games

SO, let me get this straight, Microsoft… THE “CONSOLE YOU’VE DREAMED TO MAKE”, as kind sir has put it… WAS A PS3??? HAHA! You still got that DLDVD in there, or can people yet play their Blu Ray? Oh, wait, you wouldn’t do that would you? Well I hope you know, there may be a lot of stupid people in the world, but there are not enough for you to literally remove the ownership of optical storage and instead stream and/or download to them just because you don’t like the format. Nice PS3. You knew PS3 wasn’t going to be there until 2010 anyway. Video   read more

Unity 3.0 New Effects Preview – Oh, that’s pretty.

 in  Games
Share

Mani, head honcho over at InfiniteUnity3D, shared a video he found showcasing some new features for Unity 3.0. My thoughts are this: Oh, that’s pretty. Really. The new deferred shading in Unity 3.0 has, I assume, allowed for the new effects you’ll see after to just to IU3D. If you are reading this and confused, Unity is a game engine. An easy to use game engine designed for rapid development of prototypes and full scale browser, pc, and mobile games. It has expanded over the last few years and is even about to be on consoles. My question to the Unity developers is this (and I will eventually   read more

What has mortalhuman been doing?

To be honest? Not much lately. Only the game engine. Learning advanced digital art techniques and taking my skills up while Spark (our Lead Coder and founder of the game engine) continues building the basis to what will one day be the only wise game engine choice. mwuhahahaha. I’m serious, though. Anyway, painting roads lately, tell me how you like them? Advice? Crit? All welcome. Are you a modder or open ’sauce game dev? Come play with us in making the first ever open source streaming game engine that comes pre-loaded with logic. We need Lua programmers, all artists are welcome, and   read more

Penumbra Overture Now Open Source + OALWrapper

 in  Games
Share

You can now make games with Penumbra Overture, the engine that it’s made with, or even get an OpenAL wrapper, or for freezy-peezy. This is just now available, and I’m taking it in myself, you can get some info at the Frictional Games blog. The most interesting bit for the moment for me; OALWrapper This library is made almost entirely by our tool programmer Luis, who actually started out doing work for us on the OpenAL sound implementation. This library is simple and easy way of accessing the OpenAL functionality and was made since there is a strange lack of free sound libraries   read more

Driving Physics List For Unity 3D – Cars and more

 in  Games

DiamondTearz has recently posted this list of driving physics tutorials for Unity3D over on InfiniteUnity3D for our heathenish consumption and learning pleasures. The list of driving physics explanations and examples is pretty exhaustive and probably the best in-one-place you’ll find right now. It’s 2 pages deep and an awesome source of info for me so far, hoping it will all apply to Unity 3 (I’m thinking it will)There is information for car, plane, boat, even helicopter driving physics docs to be found. This will definitely help a lot of FPS controller prefab prisoners like myself. Before   read more

Celebrate, Page Rank 2, Alexa Top 100k

 in  Games

This blog is now a Page Rank 2 and in the Alexa Top 100,000k sites. How many web pages are there in the world? It’s hard to tell – and not all of them are indexed by Google and ranked by Alexa, but needless to say, this is one of the more important milestones webmasters can shoot for in the equity of their pages, is ranking up in these things. My Alexa Traffic Rank just hit 999,586, so I am at the bottom of the pile – but it’s the good pile.  Feels rewarding and motivational, saying the least. It took me a fair bit of time to get here to be honest; certainly it could have   read more
