Mammismo or Mummy’s Boy

Mammismo is the opposite of Machismo and refers to a man who is forever a mummy’s boy. The term originates in Italy, because of the strong bond between Italian mothers and their sons.

Mammismo looks something like this:

He is 30+ and often still living with his parents (his mum).

Although he never really tried to be independent, in the moment when he assess that some woman can perfectly to take care of him (so that he never has to grow up), he will embrace her, move to her home and be always ready to listen to all her problems, although completely unable to solve anything.

He always does what he wants to do, regardless of whether you want to or not.

Everything is about him and his feelings.

You can here this sentence often, when his cell phone rings: “Just a minute, it’s Mamma. She wants to know when I will be home” or “My mother said…” or “My mother prepere this like…”
