Maldives to Copenhagen: We're Still Sinking!

    Posted about 2 years ago
There is no doubt the climate is changing, but the more I look into it, the more experts I talk one on one, the more I'm wondering if there is anything we can do. Volcanoes still pump out more CO2 than we do and Methane is a much bigger greenhouse gas issue than carbon dioxide. Several geologists I know personally have told me they believe this is just part of Earth's glaciation cycle and that the Earth is actually cooling, it is only local warming as heat is being transferred to the polar regions. This will melt the ice (as we already know), raise sea levels (sorry Maldives), and then start the process of the next Ice Age.

So it got me thinking about Copenhagen: What if this is more about world economics than environment. What if the environment was a front for the developed world to stay developed, while limiting the third world by not allowing them to industrialize quickly?

Think about in those terms: Which companies are leading the charge for environmentalism and alternative energies? The oil companies! Who do you think sponsors the major Green NGO's?

Historically, I think of Meiji Japan when the Samurai were abolished and Japan began to modernize. However who do you think started all that modernization, who built the factories and railroads? The Samurai! How? They had the money...

So is this Copenhagen conference about saving the Earth, or the World Powers saving themselves?
