Logitech Wireless Solar Keyboard K750
The Logitech Wireless Solar Keyboard K750 is NOT illuminated. But it’s so doggone cool, I just had to include it. I mean, just LOOK at it! This is sophisticated high-tech design blended with top-of-the-line style. If you’ve read my other reviews, you know I try to present a balanced approach. The good, the bad, as fairly as I can. Very few exclamation points. But… !!!!!
I just love the way the k750 looks, and I love the way it works. Talk about blending the best of multiple technologies… First, yes, it’s wireless. It comes with a connection, running through one of the smallest receivers I’ve ever seen. No bulky body sticking out, no antenna, just a teeny tiny receiver in your USB port. Even better, if you get a compatible mouse the same reciever can handle both the keyboard and mouse simultaneously. Connects on a 2.4GHz signal for a steady, and strong, link.
Now, in most cases, the downfall of a wireless keyboard is battery power. Even with a long-life accessory, sooner or later the battery goes.
Not with Logitech’s solar keyboard. It can charge the batteries on sunlight, direct or indirect… or even ambient room light. Just think, the light from your monitor can keep your keyboard recharged. The solar cells are gorgeous, too. No kludge that only a computer nerd could like, this is actually elegant in function, and looks. They claim that a charged cell can run 3 months without a recharge, but if you’ve got any light at all in the room, it should maintain a full charge indefinitely.
Sleek: The K750 is 1/3 of an inch thick, and just over 19 inches long, for a keyboard that’s comfortable to use, and has a low ceiling for those skinny little under-the-desk keyboard trays. The keys have a concave surface, and a smooth, easy stroke. Nice feel, good tactile feedback, quiet typing.
Requires Windows XP, Vista, or 7 to run… oh yeah, and a light. :^)
User reviews were amazing. An average 0f 4 1/2 out of 5 stars.
Final thoughts: What’s not to like? This keyboard looks sweet, feels good to type on, combines amazing technology for sit-anywhere comfort and neverending power. You know I’m fascinated by illuminated keyboards, and this one is NOT illuminated… but I’m tempted to abandon the backlit keyboards and just get this one! Oh… and the price? Amazingly, it’s right around $50 for all this sleek high-tech goodness.
The video below shows the Logitech K750 to full advantage, plus some weird stuff with a mechanical device performing a ‘test-to-destruction’ near the end. Regardless of the last half, the first half is an excellent viewing of this great wireless/solar keyboard.
