Learning More About Poetry

Lately I have been fascinated with poetry and learning more about the different formal structured poem styles.  It was One Stop Poetry and specifically the Poetry Forms article that gave me a good place to start.

Previously I only have ever really written 3 types poetry which include Free verse, Haiku and Acrostic poems.

But I tried my hand at an iambic triameter poem called Fallen a few weeks back.

Lately I want to try a Shadorma which is a short form poem similar to a haiku except the structure of syllables is 3/5/3/3/7/5 and it always has 6 lines.

Ballad, Rondels, Tanka are just some of the forms I will try my hand at in the upcoming weeks on my poetry blog Wanderer Thoughts Poetry and I may even try to fashion some of my random twitter poems into structured poems if time permits.
