Arik Air News: The Minister of Aviation, Mrs. Fidelia Njeze, has guaranteed that all the planned and on going projects being carried out in the aviation sector, which includes the building of new terminal facilities and services in some specified major airports would be completed as planned. The Minister gave the assurance in Abuja at the commissioning of the Nnamdi Azikwe International Airport, Abuja ( NAIA ), 16 kilometer bi-metal perimeter fence which is aimed at improving safety as well as preventing violation by both criminals plus animals into the airport space. On the commissioning of the ( NAIA ) apron, the Minister said it is coming at a time when all over the world aircraft are parked on the apron to make sure that there is neatness and orderliness in the apron area, adding that it was done to accommodate wide body aircraft. The extended apron would accommodate five Boeing 737 dash 800 aircraft, noting that the actualization of all the projects would further add value to the airport. The Apron measured 360 meters long and 70 meters wide but after the expansion the domestic airport now measures 560 meters long and 70 meters wide while the apron at the international terminal retains its original measurement of 360 meters long and 60 meters wide. The Minister of Aviation called on stakeholders to join hands with the FAAN to build and maintain an airport environment that would contribute meaningfully to the socio-economic development of Nigeria.
