Kate Knight tried to kill her husband Lee Knight by poisoning him with anti-freeze. She spent weeks slowly poisoning him before he was rushed to the hospital. Mr. Knight was placed in the intensive care but his wife didn't stop, she visited him in the hospital and kept poisoning him by pouring him "special" drinks. She told his parents not to give him anything to drink because doctors say he should have only a certain amount a day and she told the nurses that she was in charge of giving drinks to him while she was visiting. She poisoned her husband so she could collect his death insurance - about $500,000
Mr. Knight spent 16 months in a coma and nearly died in the intensive care. They have a 9 year-old son but Mr. Knight was unable to tell him what his mother did. Anti-freeze contains the poisonous chemical ethylene glycol which can be lethal in small doses. After Mr. Knight was taken to the hospital, Kate told her neighbor Sarah Johnson "It's worked. Nothing has shown up on the biopsy" The truth came out after Sarah Johnson, told Mr Knight's niece that his wife had showed her a bottle of wine and a container of anti-freeze under the kitchen sink that had about 160ml missing and that Kate carried a research on the internet and found out that a small dose of anti-freeze would give her husband kidney failure and a heart attack. Kate Knight was arrested and sentenced for life. A fitting punishment for such a cruel crime.
