Britney Spears was detained by police on Thursday night after refusing to hand over her children to Kevin Federline. Police believe she may have been under the influence of some unknown substance. Britney was taken to the hospital on a stretcher to be tested for drugs and drink.

If the tests prove positive, then Britney will be arrested and charged. In this case, it's almost certain she will lose custody of her kids totally.

Britney's ex-attorney Sorrell Trope said: that in a normal case when someone shows up with a certified court order saying the kids need to be somewhere else, the police see to it that the order is obeyed. But that is in a normal case.

Earlier this day Britney came 90 minutes late for her scheduled deposition in her custody case - and stayed for only a fraction of an hour.
