Anti-Syrian Lebanese parliamentarian Antoine Ghenem was killed today. An explosion went of in the Christian neighborhood of Horsh Tabet in east Beirut and killing Antoine Gherem and 4 other people, 20 more were injured. Ghanem was a Christian Maronite and a member of Lebanon's Phalange Party, which is known for it's anti-Syrian stance. Former Lebanese President Amine Gemayel expressed his sadness, saying Ghanem was a "very close friend of mine." He added that Ghanem's assassination is "very, very dangerous for the future of democracy in Lebanon." CNN
