Moscow is getting ready for the winter holidays

I think I'll better explain why is Russia is preparing for the holidays so late. Well, it's because most Russians are orthodox and celebrate Xmas January 7th. First comes New Year ( which is more popular than Xmas) then, a week later Xmas.

Actually to be honest, Russians often celebrate both, catholic Xmas and orthodox Xmas.

Before October Socialist Revolution, Russian calendar was shifted 13 days from the World Calendar. The caledar was adjusted accordingly, but the New Year (Old Style) is still considered as unofficial celebration occasion. More holidays - better
