How to Write Health and Wellness Articles

Unlike other topics, writing health and wellness articles may require more time and work to write than let’s say a travel or a fashion. Why? Because you have to be extra careful in what you write as it would affect the general wellbeing of your readers. If you give a wrong advice and they heed it, it will affect their health and sometimes, wrong advices may lead to life threatening situations. That is why you should make sure that every health and wellness article you write is factual and accurate.

So how should you go about writing a factual and accurate article? There is a three-step process on how you can come up with a well written health and wellness article.

  • The first step is RESEARCH. You can consult health and wellness magazines or you can surf the internet for the essential information that you need. Among the most reliable health and wellness information sites include MayoClinic.com, Medline, and the government website of the National Institute of Health. One thing that you have to be careful of when doing your research is the tendency to get tons of general information about the topic. If you are writing a health and wellness article, it is important that you write about a specific topic so you will be able to discuss all of the intricate details exhaustively. For example, instead of writing an article on fat burners, be more specific and write about the efficiency of thermogenic fat burners among those who are obese. The more specific your topic is, the more in-depth information you will be able to gather and serve to your readers.
  • Now the next step is to CONSULT THE EXPERTS. Yes, if you can, you have to schedule an interview with a health expert so you can ask him pertinent questions about the subject matter. You should be aware that some information you find on the web, especially those that only come from ezines , may not be that accurate. Even the information from reputable health websites can be outdated so you should verify the data with an expert in the field. Doing so also adds credibility to your article too if you’d want to mention the doctor’s name. If you are unable to do this for some reason, advise your readers that it’s best to consult their health officer or physician.
  • Last but not the least; you should LOOK FOR A LIVING PROOF. When I say a living proof, I mean someone who has actually been through or someone who has the condition that you’re discussing or someone who is using or has used the medication or the product that you will talk about in your article. After interviewing your “proof”, you should consult and verify the information with an expert once more. If you can, prepare a short draft of the important points that you would want to include in your health and wellness article and have it checked and edited by the health expert.
