How I Manage Stress
Stress is the curse of the breathing man. Anybody worth their life endure seemingly unmanageable stress at some point in their lives. I’ve experienced it before, still enduring it today, and would tackle it again in the future. Being unemployed due to my medical condition, I am the one left at home to do the household chores. This alone could induce stress in its brutal form and it doesn’t end there. I still have to attend my dialysis treatment regularly and manage my medications . Plus, I still have my blogs to tend to. But I’m not complaining. I consider myself as someone that thrives, therefore I cope up with things easily, stress included.
Things I do in Managing Stress
Take A Break
The most effective way that works for me in countering stress is taking a break. Stopping or pausing from something that’s been inflicting stress on you is not just logical but also wise. It prevents burnout and calms the mind enough to endure another round of work. It also helps in viewing the stressful subject in question in a different angle, thus seeing things in a different light.
Read A Book or Novel
Sometimes I tend to grab a book or novel whenever I’m in stress. Reading calms and clears my mind of confusion. I read mostly mystery and suspense novels, books on Egyptology, Geology, and Geography, and food/culinary magazines.
Surf the Internet and Read Other Blogs
Whenever I get writer’s block I tend to cram up, especially if I really wanted to finish the article I’m writing. This induces stress, and whenever it creeps in on me I simply put down what I’m doing and surf the web. I like to visit other blogs. Whether it’s related to what I’m doing or not, as long as I like what I’m reading on that site, I’ll stay there for a while.
Watch Cartoons
Oh yes you heard that right. I still watch cartoons every now and then and I find it soothing for a my burnt out mind. I like Tom and Jerry Tales, the animated Mr. Bean show, Spongebob Squarepants, and Timmy Time. I guess I’m still a kid at heart and enjoys watching these. And the things you enjoy doing often relieves stress.
These are the techniques I employ to relieve stress. It works for me most of the time. Maybe it would work for you too, or maybe not. But the bottom line is that you should seek out ways to relieve stress as efficient as possible, before it overwhelms what your doing. And that you should always take time to relax and enjoy life to prevent burnout.
