Share

This is a simple and easy dessert recipe that you will love to make, especially now that it is summer and there are plenty of mangoes. Making home made ice cream used to be one of my favorite weekend activities with the kids. This recipe makes it really easy to make fantastic Tangy Mango Ice Cream. Check it out and enjoy the results. Note that no special ice cream making equipment is needed.

Ingredients for Tangy Mango Ice Cream

2 ripe mangoes

1 orange

1 lime

1 cup sugar - Granulated

½ cup cream (whipped)

Directions:

  1. Peel and slice the mangoes. Take as much mango pulp off the large seed as possible. You can then discard the seed as it is not needed.

  2. Make as much Juice from the the orange and lime as possible. Use a juicer if you have one. If not just squeeze by hand as much juice out of the fruits as possible. You can use the juice with or without pulp of the fruit - your option.

  3. Blend the mango using a food processor (or blender) until you make a puree. You really cannot do this part by hand.

  4. Add the orange juice, lime juice and sugar. Blend again for about 5 seconds.

  5. Pour into a metal or plastic bowl. Then fold the cream into the mixture.

  6. Place in freezer for 45 minutes.

  7. Remove from the freezer and whisk by hand until smooth and has a creamy texture. Return back to the freezer and repeat whisk procedure again after 20 minutes.

  8. Store in an ice cream container in the freezer or you can put it in an ice cube tray. It's best not to leave in one big bowl but to divide up into smaller potion size containers, if you have them.

  9. Spread a small amount of whipped cream on top to serve.
