the baby feels no pain

It is called hereditary sensory autonomic neuropathy. The whole family of insensitivity to pain.

When Gabby was teething she couldn't feel that she was chewing her lips and mouth raw..or she scratched her eyes so severely one had to be removed. "At the time here was my sweet baby girl doing so much damage, I had no way to protect her," Trish said.

But these families find each other. For example, six families from all over the country recently met in Mendota Heights. Their similarities are that they are all parents of children who do not feel pain."We had never met anyone or talked to anyone who had a child with this," Valerie Haddaway, Micahlah's mom said.Unofficially Trish Gingras knows of 39 children like Gabby.
