Flexible keyboards. You either love ‘em or hate ‘em. I’m on the fence, not from any real issues, just because I type fairly fast, and don’t care for the keys being embedded in the silicone. That being said, there are a lot of upsides to a flexible keyboard as well. The flexible aspect is nice, makes it easy to roll up and store, to move out of the way, to take along on a trip…

I also like the waterproof aspect. Keyboard get dirty? Heck, who’s doesn’t? With this keyboard, just a quick wash under the faucet cleans it right up. Spilled your drink on it? Just wash it off. For someone who eats and drinks at the desk, this is a pretty good option.

Thankfully, the backlighting is there. After all, that’s my main interest in keyboards. Because the lighting is ‘internal’ to the keyboard, yet the whole thing is semi-transparent, the glow is significant. This keyboard really lights up.

This is the Grandtec brand. Comes with a USB connection, has 109 keys. At 21″ long, it’s a full-sized keyboard. User ratings are split, with nearly equal ratings between the 1 & 2 stars, and the 4 & 5 stars. Most of the problem just seems to be its quirkiness. Some people adapt to the different style easily, others just don’t like it. There are two recurring concerns. One, some of these keyboards have a tendency for the keys to fall loose from their embedded position. Two, the paint eventually rubs off the letters you use the most. I can’t really complain too much, that’s a problem many keyboards have.

Final thoughts: A trendy gadget. Quality could be an issue. If you’re intrigued by the idea, or worry about spilling on your keyboard, it might be worth your time. If you’re a superfast typist, it will slow you down having to strike the keys harder.
