Solar Energy The solar energy sector experienced significant growth in 2010, with investments growing 53% to a record of $79 billion, with more than 17GW of new generating capacity globally (Germany accounting for 45% of global solar investments). Most countries have now made their play, and even though windows of opportunity remain to capitalize on renewable energy developments for the good of national economic development. Looking at global trends, the solar sector experienced the strongest growth among the various technologies led by small-scale residential projects.
