    Facebook's golden goose.

    Posted about 2 years ago

On my earlier article that I wrote recently where I suggested that Facebook should begin focusing on monetization, I figured out that it would be a good time to suggest that now is the time for Facebook to make billions. I’m clearly aware of the company’s existing strategy; the company is well positioned to make not just millions but billions of dollars. There are numerous ways for Facebook to make billions of dollars, the company is growth oriented and has strong mainstream buzz. And with the company’s massive user base expanding at extra ordinary rate, it would be easy for Facebook to make money. Facebook is in n better position to strike any blockbuster deals in the web. I’m sure anyone in the world would love the opportunity to do business on Facebook. We have very nice working environment at Facebook, the social networking supersite is currently adding 600,000 and 700,000, and it already hit the 200 million mark and still going strong with no sign of slowdown. The 2008 and 2009 growth puts Facebook in a better position to make money. The biggest question right now is how way Facebook will make money of all these users. My suggestion for Facebook is a robust polling system or a marketing service. Every year companies spent billions of dollars on market research. Market researches would like to get their hands on the information provided by Facebook, with more than 200 million registered users Facebook Is a goldmine for market research. Facebook got a lot of potentials if Facebook could only have marketers’ bids for utilizing large polling system then Facebook will make billions of dollars each year. Market research is a $20 Billion industry. If Facebook could grab a portion of that business, then the company could able to generate substantial revenue through in research alone. I’ll strongly believe that Facebook could able to make a good share of this market. Marketing research is a highly lucrative business, marketing research is the planning for, collection and analysis of data relevant to marketing decision making. Data from marketing research played a key role in decision making, marketing research to serve and assist in decision making. The data is so crucial that it gives company information of what exactly their product doing in the market and it also provides company with knowledge on how, when and what kind of products should the company launch in the market. Of course Facebook will never grant outsiders access top much of the private data on the site, they would definitely charge market research companies to have access to those data. I’m sure market research companies would love and crazy to get their hands on the information provided by Facebook users, Facebook could one day found itself competing with those highly established external research companies. This is a very serious business and could be highly profitable. Facebook has already tested running polling system on the site and has been experimenting with a variety of ways for users to share information about advertisers on the site. Another suggestion is product research service. The said product will provides real time research for companies looking to test the appeal of their products. Facebook should get back to the drawing board and start working on this marketing research service, Facebook will just provides options for companies to pose questions to specially targeted member or users based on their profile information . The social networking site could provide companies with highly targeted demographic data. Last 2004 market research companies spent a whopping $7 B in the US alone but those numbers have probably surpassed $10 B now based on the growth trend. There are many possibilities for Facebook to generate billion of dollars. Facebook would surely hold a lot of leverage with their 200+million users.
